Yes. As soon as we can get an I-551 stamp. Waiting for USCIS to schedule an appt. That way it looks like we are managing our case better than USCIS is. We moved recently to a different state and had to wait the 3 months to be eligible for N-400. I'm so tired of the process and ready for it to be over.

Same. That'll be my answer if they ask at the interview why I want to become a citizen. "So I never have to deal with USCIS ever again".

Received Atlanta USCIS FSO notification letter that my spouses N-400 Naturalization interview scheduled on March 4, 2021 will be a joint combination I-751 interview.  We have prepared, and will  our file of additional printed/photocopied supporting documents up until to the present, and after our May 20, 2020 N-400 online filing submission.  We will likewise have and offer a 'Data Traveler' USB with all/every piece of supporting material, and offer ti provide it to our USCIS interviewer.  We're uncertain as to whether USCIS has embraced the capability for submission of saved formatted document files in this presentation capability. Will report back after our interviews on March 4th.  Success to each and all on their individual VJ case experience!  🌈

Both of us went, but the security stopped me saying only the person who has the appointment letter can go in. I was waiting outside, wife went in told the officer and the officer came out and said, we dont need you for an interview, if we need we will call u in. But they never called me in. In abt 1 hr my wife was done with i751 and N400 and came out with the Oath done. But both should go for the Interview.

My wife called for an infopass appointment also two weeks ago and finally got a call back. They refused to schedule an appointment because "there weren't any spots available". When my wife told them she will lose her job and driver's license they basically said USCIS doesn't care as they don't consider those emergencies. We have budgeted our lives for two incomes (what Americans don't?) and we are afraid we will lose our home and other things. Closing in on two years in May and the silly USCIS can't be bothered to do anything.

This can be an absolutely backwards country...

Hi Harold_Oakland,

Could you please clarify this , do you mean your wife needs the i-551 ( adit stamp), or she needs the EAD? You mentioned drivers license and I believe if she had 2years (CR1) conditional green card , then her license would be valid for 5years . Mine is still valid , I just had to book appointment for the adit stamp  which I went to procure last week.I checked your timeline and it says you already filed both I-751 and N400. The fact that your wife mentioned losing her job is enough for USCIS to have scheduled an appointment ... It so annoying / pathetic but please shed more light on this

Thanks

Hello,

She needs the i-551 stamp. Where we now live her driver's license purportedly expires when the 18 month extension expires.

It is still possible she'll lose her job, but the first couple of agents refused to mark it as an emergency. She finally talked to one agent that marked it as urgent last week but we've yet to hear anything back from them about a potential infopass appointment.

Last week, hubby and I chatted with a USCIS rep through the Ask Emma chat function. Now I'm even more confused. We asked whether his N-400 interview that was just scheduled might be a combo interview since hubby's i-751 is still pending. Agent said no, the interview is just for N-400. We then asked whether the i-751 had to be approved before the N-400 could be approved (as is our understanding). The agent said this (copied/pasted):

To be honest, that is wrong, it really depends on the offices that are process both case. They sometimes don't go in order.

Does this sound right?? If not, does this mean he could be approved for N-400, but have to wait to take the oath until his i-751 interview is scheduled? (I wouldn't put it past USCIS).

Linyahui checking our I-751 and N-400 USCIS cases status, we received this msg "On January 26, 2021, we scheduled an interview for your Form N-400, Application for Naturalization, Receipt Number IOE##########. We will mail you an interview notice. Please follow any instructions in the notice. If you move, go to www.uscis.gov/addresschange to give us your new mailing address."  Within 10 days after the N-400 interview message, we received a follow-up message notifying that we would have our I-751 also on the scheduled N-400 Interview date, and that both of us should plan to attend the interview.  VJ friends who had their N-400/I-751 interview also at the Atlanta USCIS FSO the 1st week of February.  Upon the conclusion of their interview, their interviewer gave them a verbal approval for both cases, however informed informed them would recieve a written follow-up letter. Here's what they posted on their updated VJ timeline.

"We had a combo interview, so I was able to go back with my husband. The I-751 interview was more like a conversation. He asked us both: what's your name, D.O.B, address, social security, where do you work, phone number). We brought a lot of updated and new evidence, but he only wanted updated bank statements, evidence of our joint auto purchase, taxes from 2015-2019 and our 2020 W2s, evidence of our trips together, and arrest records (for driving without a license). Then he conducted the N400 and allowed me to stay in the room. The answer to the questions were: Civil War, Native Americans, John G. Roberts Jr., New York (name a state that borders Canada), President Joe Biden, and Republicans and Democrats. Then the N400 was reviewed and some of the above questions were repeated and there were new ones (what is your height, have you taken a trip outside of the U.S since filing N400, when did you become a green card holder). Hubby had a little trouble with the Yes and No questions. On the application when the question asked if you have ever committed a crime for which you were not arrested for, he answered yes. He received a speeding ticket and because he had his license then, paid a fine as opposed to being arrested when he was driving without a license. The interviewer, asked the question again and he said no. At this point, I realized he was asking if my husband had ever got away with committing a crime. I could see the interview was becoming a little exasperated and even said I'm going to ask you again and if you can't answer, I'm going to stop the interview because you don't understand. The issue was my husband did understand the questions, but was confused. I was trying to telepathically explain this to my hubby and let him know he needed to say no. After an agonizing 5 seconds when the interviewer asked him again, hubby said no and the questions continued. Write: California has the most people. We cant' remember what the reading part was. At the end, the interviewer asked for the evidence of the speeding ticket (which caused us to answer yes for the above question) and we provided that to him. We also gave him a copy of hubby's green card (which was taken away at his infopass appointment for the I-551 stamp). After a lot of computer typing and paper shuffling, hubby reviewed the corrections and signed. We received a verbal approval for both cases. Officially, the N-400 post interview notice states a decision cannot be made (I think because we submitted more evidence and updated the application). We were told that we would receive a notice later regarding the oath ceremony. We asked if he knew when we might be scheduled and he said "no one knows". I'm trying not to focus on the fact that we didn't get an immediate approval (it's my understanding that this happens from time to time) and ride the high of our passed interviews. 😊"  This will give you insight into the combo N-400/I-751 interview process. Each interview is different, and each USCIS FSO functions within procedural guidelines and under the Managing Director.  Que sera, sera.
