Hi,

I just submitted the application and the required documents to the nvc through the ceac online portal. I wanted to understand what is the processing time for this. Meaning how long will it take for the nvc get back with an approval, sending the docs to the embassy and providing the interview date. Also do we schedule the date ourselves or is it provided to us by the nvc? And what is the current schedule liken?

I am from Pakistan and I am married to a US citizen.

Would appreciate a detailed response since I am completely in the dark currently.

Current review times for NVC for reviewing documents are 30 to 90 days if all documents are accepted and no FE is required by NVC as it will put you back into the que. Depending how busy Islamabad consulate is it can take any where from one Month to few months. All the best. You can keep an eye on current processing times by clicking on the following link

Once all your documents are accepted and approved by NVC, your case will enter the queue for ISL.  When your case reaches the front of the queue, NVC will schedule your interview and send the case to the consulate.  That could easily take several months at minimum.  Also, be aware that it is common for Pakistani cases to undergo extended administrative processing which can take months or even years (in some cases).

In other words, patience is the key.  Good luck.

I don’t know about if the US embassy in Pakistan is processing the visa interview, but like my case, the NVC approved my documents more than three months ago and ready to forward to the US Embassy in Ethiopia however Ethiopia is in unstable condition. So I have to wait for an unknown months May be longer…

Check  your case on cease website often. Good luck!
