All the cover letter examples I have seen are pretty much bullett point descriptions of what is included in their i-130.

For the "additional proof of marriage" (visa is for my wife) we only have pictures of our relationship. I figured I would upload maybe 8 to 10 photos and explain it in the cover letter (like a short narrative) to explain our relationship. What do you all think? Is this appropriate or is this not what the cover letters are for? We are relying on the photos because we do not have any other proof of marriage examples that are listed in the appplication (such as joint bank accounts / lease / affidevits).  There is an "additional information" form (we are filing online) so maybe that would be a more appropriate spot to elaborate on the pictures.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

A Cover letter you don't really need in these days of ages so much has changed and no updates have been made. as for the proof flight info, pictures (i loaded mine to word and wrote who-what-when I typed it in), you won't have a joint account living away that's for those that live together in the states. other proof marriage cert, divorce decree if any, phone logs from what's app or however you communicate, face book and so on I screen shot a couple of the call logs showing how long and some facebook messages and post people comment on, this is what I did and I put this on word as well. if you search through vj and write proof of marriage a lot more will come up

Thanks! Ya we are living abroad and it is difficult to get a joint bank account - I didn't realize that was meant more for those currently living in the states.

Good ideas for the additional proof of marriage. We don't use social media but I'm sure we can come up with additional examples of proof.

If you are living together, that itself is strong evidence.  Provide details of your living arrangement if you do not have a lease in both names.

We are in a similar situation where we live overseas and joint bank accounts aren't a thing here.

Do you have proof that you are both living in the same city/country and proof you live at the same residence with the length of time you've lived together?

Ya its frusturating not being able to just add on someone to a bank account.

Her official documents are at her permanent address which is acutally in a different city, even though we have been living together she keeps her permanent address the same just to simplify everything in case we move again.

Thanks for the reply. What other forms of proof could we provide to confirm that we have lived together? I could show a picture of a letter sent to our address, but other than that I can't think of anything.

Who pays the utility bills/internet/where do bank statements go...

Add proof of mail sent to the same address in both your names/ her name/ your name.

In another forum I frequent, I read about a Korean couple who just got their I-130 approved with only the marriage certificate! I don't advise it. But, I think a few photos with friends and family and proof you are living in the same place could suffice.

A statement/description of you living together, the date when you moved in together, the address, type of domicile, some photos of you in your place, any holiday parties you hosted, etc.  Think of how you would tell or describe it to family or friends, and document it that way on paper.

That is correct but that information is included in the petition itself.  It need not be explained.  They show their address histories, part of which match and they'll answer a specific question about where they lived together and those dates.

That they live together abroad, is all they need besides a marriage certificate.  A few photos are good, but they are secondary.

Facts are cheap...knowing how to use them is precious...
