USPS is a joke!

Sent a package to Argentina (South America) from Ohio before the Thanksgiving Break. On Tuesday I got an update that the package was at Heathrow airport (????). Called USPS and the lady said that was because that's the route planes take. Yeah right. Next morning I got a text message that the package had been cleared in customs in Argentina. "Fine" I thought. Finally it's going to make it. Well guess what, this morning the package made it to... ATHENS! Is this a joke or what? I already did a service inquiry but they said it's going to take at least 30 days to investigate.

Any ideas on what to do?

I WILL NEVER, EVER, USE USPS AGAIN!

I am so mad at me right now. FedEx charged about $100 more, but I'm sure it would have gotten to the destination. This is a sick sick joke.

I didn't have a delivery problem, I had a Chase Visa problem. My immigration attorney asked if I wanted to use my Chase Visa card (the one I paid him with) to pay the filing fee, I said sure, but for some reason the government rejected it. The attorney sent them a paper check instead so it all worked out a day or 2 later but it's those unexpected things that pop up that are the last thing you think is going to be a problem.

I mean how hard is it to read a label that says that this package needs to be delivered to Argentina, not London, not Athens!!!

Years ago I took a temp job (2nd job) during the holidays at the USPS, wanted to make some extra money for Christmas and they hire a lot of extra help. It was quite the revelation to see how easy it was for packages to get damaged or sorted incorrectly. I am not surprised with the issues you are having. You get what you pay for.

USPS delivered my husband's US passport to the wrong house. Thankfully we live within walking distance of the post office so we just went over and they looked up the delivery location GPS coordinates and we found it, it was lying on the steps of the house on the parallel street over. It was actually someone on VJ who gave me that advice, I would have never known about the GPS coordinates thing otherwise. Apparently physically going to the post office to complain/inquire sometimes can be better than just calling them.

 

I wouldn't use USPS for anything time sensitive or important/valuable. Better off going with FedEx or another "higher end" shipping company. Unfortunately for shipping passports and green cards, we have no choice because the US gov't only ships those via USPS.
