Hello,

I am asking on behalf of my brother and his fiance. His fiance is in Pakistan and they just got a letter from NVC with the case number and what to do next. As of now they are awaiting interview. In the mean time my brother's fiance is filling out the DS-160 and she had some questions and I wanted to forward and get her the answers she has requested so far.

1. She hasn't made any specific travel arrangements yet so she said no, but it still asks for the date of estimated arrival. Should she give one even though she doesn't know anything? we haven't looked for places for their marriage because of pandemic and because of the time it is taking at Islamabad embassy.

2. In pakistan it is called Nadra or NIC and there are dashes in the National Identification Number- is that what it is asking? She put down the number but put spaces instead of the dashes. Is that okay?

3. There is one question the form asks: "Has anyone ever filed an immigrant petition on your behalf with the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services?" She is stating no. I am assuming it is asking other than the one filed by my brother, is that correct? Should she say no there?

I am sure she will have more questions. the website is under maintenance so it logs her out from time to time so she has only gotten to part 3 above.

Thank you in advance.

1. Estimated days are fine.

2. If the system allows her to input the whole number, then yes.

3. We replied yes -referring to the K1 petition-.

Thank you.

the last one: and that worked just fine? no issues right?

No, no issues.

I think there is a box to explain the specifics; she can state she's referring to the current K1 petition.

Okay got it. thank you so much!

Be aware that some applicants from Pakistan are submitted to extended administrative processing time after the interview.  Good luck.

Got it. thank you for that information.

One question: would you happen to know if it is male or female who have been in extended administrative processing. I heard that it is harder for male foreign fiance to get a K-1 visa as opposed to female foreign fiance.

We have had posts from both men and women who had reported long administrative processing times from Pakistan.

I answered no to a 3d question since an i-129f is technically a nonimmigrant visa petition 🧐

I thought k1 is immigrant visa now. Am I wrong?

Just to make sure, did you have a Nikah done?  even a religious-only Nikah?

No my brother and his fiance did not have a nikkah done. I know that nikkah is Islamic marriage and by law has to be registered. We didn't even have an engagement as per pakistani traditions. Just a small agreement between family and small announcement at home with close family and friends. Basically a "baat pakki" if you put it in words. Like a promise between families. My soon to be sister in law is our first cousin so yea.
