  1. I meant to say that only citizens get it, so if one renounces, they do not get a NICOP. They can get a POC instead.
  2. I know people who stayed single into their 40s because their LPR parents sponsored them....
  3. You enter the applicable information but write "DECEASED" regarding residence.
  4. The majority of people keep their Pakistani citizenship unintentionally. That is to say, most assume that it went away when they naturalize in the US, but this is not true. So between those cases, and those who choose to maintain NICOPs, the majority do not renounce their Pakistani citizenship.
  5. NICOPs are ID cards given to CITIZENS.
  6. I keep hearing "22 months", where does this come from?
  7. Circling back here, in case anyone is in this situation. It seems like writing "Pakistan" on the I-130 will prompt USCIS/NVC to later request Pakistani documents. Writing "Bangladesh" will prompt them to request Bangladeshi documents if there is an RFE. In the absence of the I-130 instructions specifying current country of sovereignty vs historical, it seems like one could write what matches their birth certificate as suggested by @Yuliya Lipina YMMV.
  8. Not required if the OP has a valid Union Council birth certificate, which they say they do
  9. 1. Was the I-130 approved, or still pending? 2. Everything depends on the above question, even those who are currently under 21.
  10. I knew people who were sponsored by parents and stayed single into their 40s because they did not want to be ineligible for the GC...
  11. Where did you get married? use the document issued in that country
  12. A corrected birth certificate can be issued in a few weeks. You have plenty of time to get this fixed before applying.
  13. OP, if you do NOT want this to happen, she can go through the name update process in Pakistan. She will need to post in the newspaper for two weeks, and then take those newspaper clippings to NADRA, where they will update the record. You need to keep those clippings with you for the 20+ years so I suggest you scan them. You can prove that you two are siblings by submitting your birth certificate and your sibling's, and the documents will show both parents' names
  14. That is not true. Nikah Namas have been issues from the 1970s. You will need to get some document that says you don't have one. If you can't find it, you will need to go to the central registrar in your city, they may have an old copy or be able to provide you with a letter saying "We looked but could not find it". NADRA may also have a copy in their electronic system (they scan a lot of things)
  15. You will need to get a NADRA marriage certificate made. but this is in ADDITION to your existing urdu nikah nama and translation
  16. why? the old one is valid. there have been cases where people got new birth certificates but the UC wrote "late entry". this ended up creating more problems later.
  17. you just need to include a statement that the translation is accurate and that you know Urdu and English
  18. Anyone can translate it. In my case, a family friend did it (here, in the US). The translation just needs to include a statement that the translation is accurate and that the translator knows Urdu and English
