Honestly I still didn't get it. In the same day I had the interview another person had as well, he got the oath ceremony date on April 26th and I got it for May 20th....BTW interview date was April 7th. I don't know if that could help ....

If you change your name it takes longer. I changed my name.

Question - putting together my package now. Must we get certified copies of tax returns from the IRS? I.e., pay $43 per last 3 years (marriage based naturalization) or are transcripts enough???

thanks for the response. My interview is on a Friday, and so I wonder if they will offer same day oath. Did you have a name change, or was it just that they didn't offer it on this Friday? Thanks!

No name change, and not sure if anyone else was offered same day. I did hear others also get instructed to wait for their ceremony letter in the mail though.

  • 2 weeks later...

After passing my interview on April 4, i finally received my oath ceremony date on may 13. They scheduled the oath for June 30, AND 2 HOURS away from my house. Where i had my interview was just 20 minutes from my house and the interviewer told me i would come back to the same place for oath in a few weeks. so overall from interview to oath is 3 months for me and for some reason really far away. oh well. it is good to at least have a date now.

Hi folks 🙂

I hope all is well with you , and congrats to all the ones that passed the interview and good luck with the oath ceremony .

Hopefully I am on the right forum to get advise or answer to my questions, I have been married to my US spouse since 2014 applied to US citizenship April 2021 that means After 7 years of marriage , I did not take advantage of the 3 yrs option but I still checked that box on the N-400 form when I applied instead of checking the one of I have been lawful resident in the last 5 yrs ! Anyway I passed the interview July 2021 and since then am still waiting for oath ceremony it's been 10 months and of course some of the reasons of this long delay is COVID and requesting a name change  ! Now  la vie is not rose with my wife recently ,we are having lots of arguments and fights constantly which is leading to separation eventually and I have to leave the house soon , I wonder what's gonna happen to my  current oath ceremony ?!  Am I gonna be able to go for the ceremony if scheduled , will I be able to get my citizenship approved or the separation will I influence the decision?! If it will  am I gonna be deprived of applying for citizenship in the future ? If my wife decides to retaliate and report me to the immigration will I loose the right to re-apply again for citizenship ?

I appreciate your help folks

thanks 🙏

Update on my son’s test. He passed and was told that they will send a letter regarding his oath  ceremony. His interview was at Federal plaza in NY this morning at 8:40am

Hello , Just a quick question since your son and I had the same day interview date at the Federal Plaza on April 7th. My Oath ceremony is on the 20th (this Friday) at 8am. Can you please letting me know how long did it take for your son's Oath ceremony ? As I already got an appointment at the USPS to applying for the US Passport so I wanna make sure I will make it in time to the post office.

Thank you in advance for your response!

And once again Congrats for your son!

Have a lovely day!
