Yeah almost everyone. Apply as soon as she gets here as they’re currently very slow due to COVID. It will most likely take weeks.

Not needed.

As mentioned above, K1 visa holders are eligible to apply for SSN while their I-94 is valid.  No need for any other reason.  When your fiancee goes to an SSA office to apply, make sure she has a print-out of the SSA manual page that says K1 is a "legal alien allowed to work".  In case you encounter an SSA employee who is not familiar with their own policy, show them that page -- https://secure.ssa.gov/apps10/poms.nsf/lnx/0110211530

Lots of people here do.  That's what we recommend.  Check this thread for examples --

No.  I got married in the US without having SSN.  When we applied for our marriage license, the staff at the clerk of court's office were fine with my SSN being listed as "000-00-0000".

Don't need a reason, but we were asked that question when we took my fiance to the SS office.  My answer was "because she is eligible for it"

I got some pushback but asked for a supervisor and showed them the printout from their website.

They processed the application and we got the number a few weeks later.

1) refer to the SSA's own policy which you can print out, highlight, and slap it on the table.

2) an SSN is not required to marry someone. A passport will suffice. If any clerk insists otherwise, laugh at them and find another county that wants your money.

Hello

She doesn’t need a SSN to get married.
once you get married and she applies for EAD and AOS, she can request to get a SSN as well and she will get it with EAD (or after few weeks since it’s taking time now).
BUT, if she requests for the SSN with the EAD, she won’t be able to get a driver license until she gets her SSN. If she doesn’t request for a SSN, she can get a driver license. Then once she gets her EAD she can go to SSA.

This happened to me, I wasn’t able to get my driver license because I have requested for a SSN in my EAD application. And still waiting….
I hope I explained it well

For K1 visa holders just recently arrived in the US, it would be better to apply for SSN before getting married.  K1 are eligible to apply for SSN until day 76 of US entry.  If they do not apply for SSN during that window, then yes, they may request for SSN through their EAD or AOS applications.

it says that apply 2 week after arrival in the us so the ssa can varify information in the SAVE-ASVI database. is that true? how soon she can apply for SSN?

2 weeks was recommended when they were a paper system.   Now,  no reason to wait.

YMMV
