You apply for the tourist visa online and print the confirmation.   This is a non immigrant visa.

Ah ok. I see the confirmation number. It's showing up as No Status. Does that mean it hasn't been processed yet?

What processing are you expecting at this stage? Have you made an appointment?

We got a receipt, however we didn't get a case number yet. I am guessing we will get it via the email?

Is the US consulate in Pakistan even conducting interviews for B visas?

Perhaps surprisingly, it was and presumably is again, albeit on a limited basis. There was a Covid shutdown announced from April 12-June 3 for regular B1/B2. Not seen an update since that (which is on official page)

Sorry, I should have mentioned it was for the DS-160 form. My wife hasn't made an appointment. She just submitted it in late May(This is for the DS-160 form, not the i-130 form). So I am not sure what the process is. I'll look at the guide and see what she could expect. There's been no action done on our end nor have we received any follow up.

Nothing at all is going to happen until she makes an appointment. And then nothing is going to happen until she goes to the appointment. This is how tourist visas work, US or most places.  She will find instructions online for what she needs to do/bring when she makes the appointment.

If this is for a first-time B2 visa application, pending action is on your wife to pay the MRV fee and book the interview appointment.
