NVC Interviews/Dates

Has anyone had any luck emailing NVC to see status of interview (CR-1)?  I'm waiting for Nigeria and have been reading a lot about how long the backlogs are.  By emailing them will it hurt me or it does not matter?

I also am reading and reading on both VisaJourney and on NVC to see dates?  Does anyone know timing of interviews?  Meaning are they on September 2020 still for CR-1?

I wish there was a "manual" to help you go though this terrible process!

Thank you for any help!

since you just competed the IV part in December,  you do have a long wait

Saying this ,  it never hurts ,  to email once a month to insure the case is kept open usually this is advised for those delaying the process themselves by not completing the NVC stage  but i say ,  never hurts to send out an email

Am in the same boat as you. Completed NVC stage. Google "us embassy packet 4".

Grab a pdf from any embassy site, ideally from the embassy that you will interview at, understand what you will need to do to prepare for the interview.

Get any documents that can put together ahead of time. Medical ahead getting an appointment is a no no, it will likely expire.

After that all you can do is wait. No manual needed cos this is the last step.

We have not idea how much longer, from one or two timelines, I see some people who completed NVC in December already interviewed.

Emailing them will not hurt, not sure if it helps either but you will get a generic response

This is how the process works for immigrant visas:

1. Case is DQ'd by NVC.

2. Case then enters NVC queue for your consulate and waits at NVC.

3. Consulate informs NVC of available interview date for upcoming month.

4. NVC schedules interview when case reaches the front of the queue for that consulate.

5. NVC notifies person of interview date via email.

6. NVC then sends case to consulate.

After the interview is scheduled, it can take several days to several weeks for the consulate to receive the case.

Congrats.

Based on this alone I would estimate from DQ to interview, about 4 months. Not to bad all things considered.

If we had an idea of how fast they are scheduling appointments it would help us know if they are clearing the backlog

How busy was the embassy when you interviewed?

DQ in Oct.  Approved today. Interview February

Hi! Congratulations.

I've got a few questions please:

1. This is a bit unclear. Are you saying you DQ in Oct 2020, got approved in March 2021 and your interview is in February 2022?

I'm in the process of getting DQ, kindly clear this up with the years attached to your dates.

2. Can someone please explain what being "approved" after DQ is? @Betty Jean said she was "DQ in Oct" and "Approved in March"

3. I would also like to know if the process of getting DQ and queueing for the interview is different for the categories. I am F2B.

4. After getting DQ, does everyone waiting for embassy interview merge into one queue or there are several queues for the different categories as well

Thank you. Glad I found this thread. This whole process has been quite stressful.
