Yes my congressman contacted the department of state and they reached out to USCIS. I sent my senator my information Monday so I haven't heard back from him yet. And I haven't heard back from the ombudsman after two weeks.

If the other senator doesn't get back, contact the second one. I had to contact both of the senators in my state until I saw any movement on the N-400.

Good idea. A rep from the senator just called and told me they can't help me because they called nvc and we're told it can take 4-5 months for Nvc to receive and process the case. What a useless human being. At least my congressman is actively helping me and a service ticket was made to contact the California service center about it

Just read in the news this morning that Russia has postponed the hiring ban for the US embassy until July 16th. The embassy will temporarily resume “routine” US citizen services. 
 

Maybe another handful of visas get approved?

I saw that too. I wouldn't be too optimistic about visas. It sounded more to me like they wanted to accommodate Americans in Russia and keep providing those services for US citizens only.

I'm not sure how different the process is for K1, but we had to wait a long time to get transferred to NVC back when we got our NOA2 last year.  It's not common but it does happen occasionally with IOE cases.  It took two months for us to finally get the NVC email and case number.  We weren't able to do anything to speed up the process and just had to wait it out unfortunately.  😕

No, Russian. My immigration lawyer told me if Russia is not processing visas, when our petition reaches NVC,  due to politics that we can request another embassy in another country. Armenia seems like a reasonable choice.
