We are filling out the paperwork to submit to the Philippine embassy for report of marriage. Are you required to send original birth certificates or is copies of the original okay?

This is not a requirement and doesn't have to be done. Just a FYI

Somewhat incorrect. United States law doesn't require it. Philippine law does though and if the Filipino wants to change their last name on their passport its required. Also, if they plan on having a child and that child wants dual citizenship then the ROM helps with that as well.

But again not required in either USA or Philippines.

It can get you in trouble

Say for example. If I was previously married to a pinay, and we did a K1 and did the ROM.  Say few down the road we divorce.

I go back to Philippines and meet  another girl and start having a relationship with her.  By Philippines law both me and my new "gf" could be charged with adultery.  And I assume you know people file charge on other people in Philippines hoping they will settle before the case goes to trail so they can get paid off with cash.  And yes the Philippines does enforce adultery and it will go to trail if not settled out of court.

Might I suggest you go to Thailand or Vietnam instead, please.

YMMV

I am open for that, I heard Vietnam is beautiful. Thailand seems to have lots of international Tourist and would be very open to check out the place.  I have had intentions to check them out while I was in Philippines but never have found the time nor a travel partner.

I can fly into Philippines alone, I know the country quit well, everything is in English so no communication issues like I would have Vietnam/Thailand. I already have all my contacts well established in Philippines, and I also have a couple of motorbikes over there at different cities, so I can travel around.

I have been saying for 3 years now I will evaluate and decide if I keep working full time at the of the year 2020, I have been riding the exploding economy the USA has had the last 4 years.   I suspect once they open travel up to Asia which I am now thinking will be June or October 2021 then I will probably quit working full time and start traveling.

No New York didn’t require it. You have to email them first to make sure you have everything before you mail it.
