Lol don't believe DMV folks. They told me once that once I come into the US, I am automatically a US citizen

Ha! I see who's been making  people incorrectly assume they are eligible to vote.

~AOS : 09/11/2014 - 2 YR Green card received!.

~ROC 07/13/2017 - 10 YR Green card received!.

~N-400 : 10/28/2020 - N400 Interview & Approval/Oath Ceremony/US Citizen!

More Importantly, I am a proud Anti-Fascist!

Maybe you misunderstood and the license has been extended.  Each state's DMV has different rules.  My wife's FL license was 2 yrs when she got her AOS but when she got the conditional green card they extended it to 10 yrs.

Or misspoke. Might be thinking of DL but ended up talking about gc.

In any case, it's a no harm, no foul mistake unless 1) you take authoritative immigration advice from DMV for non DMV issues and 2) if the DMV person changed your citizenship to US and registered you to vote.

maybe I'm wrong but the DMV person seemed nice, trying to be helpful and just made a mistake. No need for anyone to generalize DMV people  as not the most intelligent people imo unless you had pretty bad luck with almost everyone in that office.

A lot of people seem to struggle with the fact that I can live here legally and not be a US citizen. No matter how much I explain!

Because the average population is woefully ignorant of immigration despite living in a country comprising large number of immigrants. Isn't that just sad?

I would laugh at this if I didn't read about a case where an LPR was told that she could vote by a election campaign volunteer(!!!!) and said that during N-400 interview. I don't know what happened to her, but last time I heard she was held at ICE immediately.

It is indeed tragic. And I also don't understand why Illinois limits the validity of my DL to the date on my green card and subsequently extension letter yet tries to ask me if I want to register to vote? Their system is already set up such that they know I am an LPR. I will go crazy if I try to make sense of the system.
