Philippines Government takes stupidity to the next level

The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) announced all airline passengers are also required to wear face shields during their travel starting August 15 following the orders of the Department of Transportation (DOTr).

DOTr all who would be riding public transport are mandated to wear face shields after the government placed Metro Manila and nearby provinces under modified enhanced community quarantine.

Yes keeping their citizens safe is soooo stupid!

They should follow the lead   of the US with over 150.000 dead and probably double that by December...

Like it has proved so effective

They have the strictest lockdown and been wearing masks since March and getting daily high COVID daily

Very stupid to require face shields

Yes the Government in Philippines is quite effective

That is why they are 3rd World Country, with corruption at the center of the government for decades.

That is why you see a record high number of children born out of wedlock, and that is why you see so many people on the street begging or street children.  That is why you see young girls come for the province to work as sex workers in places like Manila and Cebu.

The government is so effective you can look on this forum and see how many people are trying to escape the Philippines.

Yep they are so effective:rofl:. Their past history proves otherwise

The mask requirement is not for the entire length of travel. It is only for during your transition to and from the aircraft, not for the entire time.

But face masks are now being required in Manila and on all public transportation.

I think when this is all said and done and everyone has time to reflect, the US and the Philippines will turn out to be two of the countries who handled this pandemic the worst, just at opposite extremes of the spectrum.  There is no doubt that we have become victims in this ineptitude with both governments mis-managing this.

Sometimes you can try and protect people but create more risk to them.  For example, the shield that some local governments in the Philippines wants to protect the driver of a motorbike and the passenger has been proven by Filipino engineers to be more dangerous than if there was no shield.  The shield will create a drag from the wind allowing the motorbike to become unstable.  Also, the passengers hands are used for holding the shield and not holding onto the bike or driver.  Plus, the only two people who are allowed to ride on a motorbike are from the same household, defeating the whole purpose of the shield.

There are decisions being made in the Philippines where people just shake their heads in disbelief, but on the other side, there are decisions being made in the US where your jaw just drops to the floor.

The United States is now a country obsessed with the worship of its own ignorance.  Americans are proud of not knowing things.  They have reached a point where ignorance, is an actual virtue.  To reject the advice of experts is to assert autonomy, a way for Americans to insulate their increasingly fragile egos from ever being told they're wrong about anything.  It is a new Declaration of Independence: no longer do we hold these truths to be self-evident, we hold all truths to be self-evident, even the ones that arent true.  All things are knowable and every opinion on any subject is as good as any other.  The fundamental knowledge of the average American is now so low that it has crashed through the floor of "uninformed", passed "misinformed", on the way down, and now plummeting to "aggressively wrong."

Not to mention that the shields create wind vortexes in front of the passenger.  Making them more susceptible to what ever the driver may have.

Finally done.

Exactly.  That was brought in the article as well.  Similar to blowing the virus all over the face of the person behind you. :)  But many areas are still proceeding with this, I think on August 15th it starts.
