Drew, I called today around 1pm. Opted to use only the automated system and was told that they have no record of my file. So, this means they haven't received it yet, or something. Perhaps after 6 I'll call again and speak to a real person and ask nicely. I would imagine that our files were sent together in the same shipment. don't know. But I'll be waiting nearby to see if you hear something interesting....

I would recommend speaking to a person. It also said mine hadn't been received yet at the NVC when I used the automated part....in reality, it was in transit to Sydney and it just hadn't been entered into the system yet. I called a few days later and they had said it was sent off about 2-3 days after they received my file.

will do. They must be very busy today. Impossible to get a real person on the line. they just keep redirecting me to the automated system. I'll just wait till later in the evening. Good thing they are open til midnight.

I believe you/we will never have your info on the automated system due to some fluke of retardedness and that you HAVE to speak with a person. Don't bother with the automated thing; it's a waste of time as far as I know.

It is just another example of the small-minded Americans (not all of us). During the last election, politicians and the media used the gay marriage issue to distract us from the real problems going on in this country. This election they are using immigration. Unfortunately, the dumb ones will fall for it again.

What is forgotten is that we are all immigrants of some form or another. I am not sure why this political generation feel entitled to shut the country doors now. Who do they think they are? i learned this information the hard way:

call the NVC number, hit 1, then 5....the guy will speak in english and tell you to have your NVC case or USCIS receipt number ready, yada yada, and to hold on while he transfers you to an operator...there will be a pause...this is the critical moment..............

if you hear a woman start speaking in spanish, hang up and try a few more times because you are not going to get through (they are sending you back to the automated system)....if your hear a man start speaking in english then youre in...he will apologize for the delay and tell you that your expected wait is 3 minutes...it might be more or less than that, but you WILL get through to someone

also---dont let my timeline fool you, i got my NOA2 just before thanksgiving, so the time between NOA2 and NVC seems a bit longer than it actually was...it only 2 business days!!! it was sent from NVC in another 2 business days!!

I recall reading that K1s are not entered into the automated system and that you have to talk to a live person in order to get your info.

I don't know which number you guys are calling but try this # 202-663-1225 and press 1, 0 you will be able to talk to a live(not dead) person within 3 minutes, they are extremely polite but I am not sure how much BS they will give? I never had a trouble talking to them.

Yes, but....these people in this small town in North Dakota were most likely all born there. They are not immigrants. Their ancestors were. And are they really racist? Maybe they just want to preserve their own local culture by deciding not to open businesses that will attract immigrant workers. It's their choice. And still a right......right? Don't get me wrong, I prefer a good blend of many cultures in my neighborhood. But not every American wants this. Otherwise those residents wouldn't be living in Bumf#@k, North Dakota. So, i dont think I can say that choice is racist. Judging someone by their skin tone, ethnic background, etc....That's racist. Unfortunately so many Americans are on high alert now, very cautious of "outsiders" or "new comers" or "immigrants". But can you really blame them? The hairless chimp in D.C. scares this nation into pre-judging. Its a shame. We've taken a step back. And that's not good. "we're a far cry from what we were"....well, do you remember the 50's and 60's?? Ask an older black American. No sir, we do not need to be what we were. We need education and security. I think the primary point of Navarette's article was that people fear that immigrants will change the current culture. It is true today and it was true over 200 years ago. He quoted Benjamin Franklin and others who said things that were just as narrow minded, bigotted and anti immigrant as what is being said today.

Despite the fact that this country was built by immigrants and our culture is stronger and more vibrant because of their influence, human nature does not evolve much over the years. We still fear change and are reluctant to welcome large groups of people who are "not like us".
