Two weeks from K1 interview, then COVID lockdown. Should we abandon K1 and get married there?

All in the title. IDK what to do and I suspect nobody does, but it seems like when they reopen embassies they would give priority to approval and filing dates. We'd already paid our interview fees. Flying there to get married, then refiling a CR1 would probably be no quicker. Is anyone else in this boat?

I’d you search the website you will literally find hundreds of people in the same boat. I’m pretty sure you can’t travel to the Philippines so you would be out of luck either way. When the embassy opens I’d imagine you’d be some of the first ones interviewed if you only had 2 weeks to go..

 

It is your choice what to do but personally I’d stay where I was. I don’t believe filing a CR1 would get her here quicker... Why make a drastic change based on speculation.

As of right now, how would you get in to get married?  Currently, no visas are currently being issued upon arrival.   When the country reopens, the consulate will likely reopen to routine visa services as well.

If you decide to get married and do a CR-1 you are going to have an even longer wait. That does not even consider the fact that you can't get into the country to get married now.

Not a newbie but lost my old info years ago) I have been through this process before --all the way through naturalization-- This site has always been a great help to me.

I would wait for k1 interview!

Make sure you know the timelines for cr1 in phillipines, doesnt it take over a year? 

I just think too many ppl would prefer to be in your shoes more than you realize.

I agree. Our situation is basically the same my fiance had only a few weeks to her interview then cancelled. Starting all over now wouldn't be worth it cause I think we will be priority once they open. Hopefully soon. Plus the cost of a new application and waiting.
