Where to find accurate information about travel restrictions?

Where do you look for accurate information about traveling abroad in regards to current restrictions? Every website I have looked has different information; how do I know what is accurate?! Specifically we are looking to travel to Haiti- so I know I won't get much specific help here- but what guideline do we follow!? I understand the world is in flux right now and Haiti NEVER has it together but we would really like to know the specifics. (not that the country has taken COVID seriously so thats a whole other story...)

JetBlue says 1) self-obtained negative COVID test prior to departure 2) quarantine required upon arrival 3) health screening form required

American Airlines says to check out https://www.iatatravelcentre.com/international-travel-document-news/1580226297.htm which was last updated 6/3 and says 1) Passengers are subject to medical screening 2) A completed Health Declaration Form must be presented to immigration upon arrival and to check DOS.

Spirit says 1) complete a health form 2)travelers may also be asked to quarantine for a 14 day period or for the duration of their trip (whichever is shorter)

Department of State/US Embassy says 1) temperature check upon arrival 2) Provide accurate location upon arrival 3) Government of Haiti stated it will impose a requirement that all arriving passengers self quarantine for 14 days. The Ministry of Public Health will check on passenger 3x after arrival to monitor any symptoms. As of July 2 it is not certain when this requirement will take effect.

DOS also says to check with your airline for updated information; which makes you go in circles.

To the mods please move this if it is not in the correct category; no clue where it should be posted! Any help would be greatly appreciated!

In most cases you want an official government source for the destination country to determine what's required there.

Though you'll have to follow any requirements from the airline to get them to let you on the plane.

I ended up finding what looks like the most reliable and up to date information on the Twitter and Facebook accounts for the ministry of tourism for senegal. Check if there's anything like that for Haiti?

Also, if it were me, I'd start asking around my Haitian friends to see if anyone had been back lately and could tell me what the deal is. Since actual airport practices and official rules are not always the same...

Do you know many Haitians in the States?

Hello there!

I went to Haiti 2 weeks ago for 1 week. The only thing required is to fill out a questionnaire given in the plane along with the custom declaration. The questionnaire form will be given to some temperature screening worker before immigration and they check you temperature and record it. Then off your way to the immigration as normal.

Feel free to ask any specific question.

i just left Haiti July 14th was there from the 1st of July. before jet blue had straight flights they reschedule y flight from Ga to FL. short story i had to catch spirit which i can't stand and their all about money because they were so worried about money the whole plane wass booked and they were double booking people seats you have to wear a mask and yes sign a health waiver jsut to say when you get there you will let them take your temp and the address you will be at there is no ordering on the plane mask at all times. Once in haiti temp taking you go through and be on your way only good thing once there it's no lines and no crowd of people and not as much standing outside either.

I left on jet blue i live by them the middle seat is x out so your not sitting on top of each other not a full flight even with the middle x out. that's like that going as well i just booked another flight to leave on time to catch my 9am. but the flight was wonderful nothing to it. I live in Ga so the airport you could hear a pen drop now fort lauderdale def wear mask because you will be sitting on top of each other  hope that help. i might of missed something so please ask and enjoy and one in haiti some just like here are wearing mask and the stores you have to have your temp taking and wash your hands outside they have a long sink to wash

You are AWESOME! Thank you for sharing!! My husband booked a flight in 2 weeks via JetBlue (direct flight going down but on the way home will stop at Ft Lauderdale- which means he has to quarantine in our state for 14 days when he gets back). He is only going 10 days -so quarantining in Haiti for 14 days wouldn't make sense.. and he is planning on staying in PAP at the beginning and end of his trip and Jacmel in the middle.. so realistically he wouldn't be able to quarantine in one place in Haiti.. plus who really can in Haiti!?! I love JetBlue I was so happy when they started flying there a few years ago; such a better experience.

That's great- so only a temp check when he gets to PAP and signing a document on the plane that he will allow them to take his temp and provide his address? That's great there are shorter lines/limited people- the airport always makes me so flustered with the amount of people there! He was going to see if he can find a place where he can get a COVID test and result in a day here for fear of being turned away at the airport; but that would be nice if he didn't have to worry about that... plus I don't have too much faith the Haitian gov always follows what they say.. lol. That is great to hear in Haiti they have stores with sinks and temp checks. Were you only in PAP? I wonder what precautions they are taking in Jacmel- but its so less densely populated that I feel more comfortable for him being in Jacmel.

Thank you SO much! I had a feeling Haiti was going to be lax- because they usually are.. I once waited in the airport for a ride for so long the customs "officer" left the building before I could hand over my form 😂. A questionnaire and temp screening are easy peasy! Thank you so much for sharing your experience. May I ask which airline you flew on? Thanks again!

I flew to Haiti on Spirit from FLL to PAP. They didn’t block middle seat. My return was was on JetBlue from PAP to JFK. They actually blocked all middle seat. Please keep in mind that masks are required.

Thank you! He is doing JetBlue JFK to PAP and then PAP to Ft Lauderdale to CT. This makes me dislike Spirit even more and we've never flown them! lol He will definitely be wearing a mask and sanitizing the seat area lol Did they still serve snacks and a drink?

Thank you! He is doing JetBlue JFK to PAP and then PAP to Ft Lauderdale to CT. This makes me dislike Spirit even more and we've never flown them! lol He will definitely be wearing a mask and sanitizing the seat area lol Did they still serve snacks and a drink?

Please avoid them at all cost. I definitely regretted it. But JetBlue experience will be pleasant.

Yes I took the test because someone told my husband I needed nope didn't need it nobody needed it there is no quarantine once you get there or none of the airport only self. I went through my county CDC they told me where to sign up online to get tested. And my test was the same day I clicked submit. My husband and family lives in Les cayes it was not that bad there either and for the most part everyone had their mask on. My husband and I also noticed how much people talk more about what's not then social media or the news. Because they kept telling my husband she can't come there no flights them when everyone seen me they started calling their family and friends smh. Shorter lines almost to none I walked it right to the counter through TSA way to early lol

Thank you- we didn't think about that! I'll have him check out Twitter and Facebook since it's all in Creole.

We don't know anyone that has traveled; but I'm seeing 2 posts here so that makes me happy!

Yes! That is great! It looks promising for you.

I've only been to Haiti once, but I lived in Flatbush, Brooklyn, for several years and studied Haitian Creole so any discussion of Haiti makes me happy. :)
