1/19/21 Received job offer so submitted expedite request based on financial loss through the Emma online chat on USCIS.com

1/27/21 Received email from USCIS requesting evidence 

1/28/21 Faxed evidence to USCIS. Included: 

• Cover letter quickly summarizing my situation and listing out the evidence I was providing
• Print out of the email USCIS sent me
• New Job offer letter
• Letter from July confirming my previous company was closing due to covid (This company also sponsored my visa so I've been unauthorized to work since)
• Savings statement showing withdrawals over the past 6 months to cover living costs
• Summary of medical insurance payments for the past 6 months (which would normally be covered by employer)

2/2/21 i-765 Status changed to Request For Additional Information Received

2/2/21 i-765 (EAD) Status changed to New Card Is Being Produced

2/3/21 i-765 (EAD) and i-131 (AP) Statuses changed to Case Was Approved

 

So grateful to finally see some movement after being unable to work since July, wishing everyone else luck. 

 

Questions: 

1) Has anyone else seen their EAD/AP status change from New Card Being Produced to Case was Approved? I would have though it would have been the be the other way around?

2) For anyone that has been lucky enough to receive their combo card already, how long did you have to wait after "case was approved" to actually receive your card?

Once the case approved this is the sequence of status updates you will see

1. New card is being Produced

2. Case was approved

3. Card was mailed to me 

4. Card was picked up by the united states postal service

5. Card was delivered to me by the post office

 

Normally, case should go through these status changes every consecutive day, expect for 4th and 5th steps. You should get your card within a week. Good luck with your new job!

I want to prepare in advance for my green card interview and with this I would like to organize and collect the documents and the necessary evidence. Someone has an idea of what they're asking to take at the time of the interview? Or what is recommended?

I think that preparing a checklist can help us all a lot.

Hi, guys! I got my interview date  on the 03/18/2021 for green card. It says that we need to get to them tax return and W2 for the most recent year. I thought to file taxes after getting green card and SSN so with new status. Do I need to file tax return 2020 now to get this to interview?

This is the list I made for myself based on the interview letter, which has a list of what to bring. (for marriage-based petition)
 

Interview Checklist

-Interview Letter

-I-693 Medical & Vaccination Record (& proof of flu shot)

-I-864 (affidavit of support, unless already submitted) & evidence

         -Federal Income Tax Returns & W-2s or certified IRS printouts

         -letters from each current employer, verifying current rate of pay and avg weekly hours, and pay stubs for last 2 months

-All documentation establishing your eligibility for lawful permanent resident status 

-Any immigration-related docs ever issued to you, including EAD; Form I-512, AP, and form I-571

-All travel documents used to enter the US

-Passport

-Form I-94, Arrival/Departure Record

-Beneficiary's Birth Certificate

-Petitioner's Birth Certificate & Passport (evidence of US citizenship)

-Marriage Certificate

-Supporting Evidence of Relationship—joint assets or liabilities, property documents, utility bills, credit cards, contracts, leases, photos, correspondence and/or any documents you feel may substantiate your relationships

Also there was a line about originals and copies of all evidence submitted with your application.

Not required. If the IO asks, remind the IO that tax deadline isn't until April 15.

I called USCIS, the lady from call center said that either way that will not affect my immigration case. Also our tax specialist said that is better to file taxes with SSN, this way we can get refund faster, filing with residential status and with SSN I might be eligible to get stimulus checks that people got in 2020. So guys that information for everyone who is having this concern.

How can we claim our stimulus checks? I have a SSN as well and we’re filing taxes soon but I have no idea how to do anything. I only know I have to file them as resident alien since I’m married to a USC. How do we know if we’re eligible?

I can say when we will file. think that connect with that we were in the country this time.

You meet the following 3 requirements:

1. are a resident alien for tax purposes
2. have a valid SSN
3. haven't already received the stimulus

I was finally able to add my Spouse to my health insurance without an SSN. I confirmed under exclusions of the EOC that immigration physicals are not excluded and even had the insurance company send me something in writing. Lastly, I was able to find a USCIS approved doctor and added them as a PCP for my Spouse and they agreed to only charge $200 to fill out the I-693 and everything else would be covered under my insurance which is fair since filling out the I-693 takes time which is not covered by the insurance. So I will have that out of the way. 

 

For anyone still needing to do their immigration physical, reach out to your insurance to see if they specifically exclude immigration physicals. If they don't exclude it then you should be able to go in as a regular checkup and the vaccines and lab work would be covered.

Filed AOS packet on June 5, 2020. FINALLY!!! After 2 expedite requests, 2 Service Requests, 2 calls with Tier 2 Officers and another half a dozen calls and chats with Emma. I received this I-765 update today.

 

My previous job offer expired but I am fortunate the employer was willing to wait and issued an updated job offer for the 2nd expedite request. The recent request went fairly fast, filed on January 25 and approved today. To those that are still waiting, hang in there and just keep trying to get your cases moving. Trust that efforts will eventually pay-off!!!
