Nothing there. I will most likely need new biometrics since mine were done back in 2015.

My husband's last biometric was done in 2015 and he got a reuse letter. Someone here reported getting a reuse letter for a biometric done in 2008. So you never know. 🙂

I really feel it boils down to the field office or whoever is in charge at the FO. Some of them dont appear to entertain reuses :(

I agree!  I know the Atlanta office is VERY backed up, they are one of the slower offices even in non Covid times.  I know a few people from Atlanta that had to go do their interviews in Alabama becuase Atlanta just can't handle the volume of back up right now.  😕

Quick question for those who had the citizen interview. When they ask the civic, history, etc questions, is it multiple choice? Is there a book in front of you? Is there an iPad where you type or click the right question or you just have to tell the answer to to the USCIS officer, I want to know how it Is, haha my interview is next Wednesday and I am picturing that moment 🙂

There is no Multiple choice, you directly have to answer the right one. The iPAD is only used for reading and writing on it. hope this helps. Good luck tomorrow

It's very individual too. I know several people who had their biometrics reused at my particular ASC, while I who had my last biometrics in the end of 2019 still had to go give them my fingerprints again a few days ago.

Getting a biometrics is no big deal at all unless you live hours away from your ASC, in such cases I can see why people wish they had their old biometrics reused instead so they won't have to drive far. Other than that I don't see the point of wishing for a reuse. I live 5 minutes from my ASC and it was done in 30 minutes (the wait was 29 minutes, the actually fingerprinting took 1 minute), and I got the "Naturalization test" pocket study guide too.

I sent them a message in October 2020 but only got a generic answer back about being in line to be scheduled for biometrics and yada yada.

Then in mid-December I got fed up with waiting and sent them another message, this time asking if I should contact the congressman or Ombudsman in order to get a biometrics appointment. That seemed to do the trick, on January 5 I got my biometrics appointment, scheduled for January 27.

Did you submit your message via the contact form on the USCIS website? I submitted a case inquiry on behalf of my hubby last fall and never received a response at all...

No, I never filled out the inquiry thingy on their website. This was just a regular message via my inbox in my online account. I highly suggest you try it too, I'm certain that's the only reason (ie sending them the message letting them know I was about to contact the ombudsman) that I got my biometrics appintment this early. Some other people at the bio appintment that day said they had their first biometrics appointment cancelled back in March 2020 due to the virus, and only received their new appointments now, almost a year later. So my guess is that I would've had to wait for all those people to be rescheduled first before I would get an appointment as I only filed in May, if it wasn't for me "nagging" them to get one. That would've taken several more months.

Oh, thanks for the info. Hubby's biometrics will be reused (received the notice dated January 13), so not sure whether the message will prompt any movement. Then again, we're going on 22 months. He had to get the i-551 stamp in his passport last week. I thought concurrently filing the N-400 would speed things up....

We already contacted our Congresswoman in DC, which was of absolutely no help (she sent back a stock response from USCIS that can be found on their website). Maybe the ombudsperson would do the trick?

If you're outside normal processing time, yes definitely try the Ombudsman.

I know, I've seen several people say it didn't help contacting the congress wo(man), s/he just received the same generic response you receive yourself when you inquire. 🤷‍♀️

I would think that things should start happening for you guys soon since you'll have your biometrics reused. That seem to mainly happen to those who are so close to the interview stage that there's no time to do biometrics, so therefore they reuse the old ones.

That's a very interesting observation - and seems rational too - I would suspect that folks receiving appointments (as opposed to reuse notices) would have a longer wait -depending on FO backlogs.
