I just got a letter stating that the uscis is sending a request for more evidence on my wife’s removal of conditions petition.  Can She apply for citizenship still?  Is it common to get a request for more evidence? I can’t think of anything we left out.

It is common but even lucky that you gor RFE. So many cases are being denied without any RFEs these days.

If you got a letter in the mail,  than that is the actual RFE as I believe USCIS doesn't send a mail saying they will send you another mail for more evidence.

Make sure you read the letter carefully, and provide them whatever they ask for. They may ask for more updated evidences, or clarifications, or possible they lost some of the documents your sent.

Good luck

So we got the letter. The first year of marriage doesn’t have enough financial accounts submitted. But at that time we didn’t have a car and lived with my parents, our jobs were paid through a job bank card so we didn’t need a bank account.  The letter says that we provided evidence of living together but not enough assets together in 2016.

Me and my wife were married in May 2016. I didn’t have a car, my wife certainly didn’t have a license yet nor car insurance. We lived with my mom and dad so she wasn’t on the lease at that time. We both got paid from our jobs through a bank card and not a bank account.  We aren’t rich so we don’t have assets like a house to even put our names on. What do we do?  Letters from my parents stating that we lived with them? ?

The roc was submitted in 2018 and the rfe was received yesterday.

can my wife apply for citizenship?

If she meets the residency and physical presence requirements yes .. but the naturalisation application won’t avoid the RFE for the ROC. ROC must be completed before the citizenship  can  be finalised.  You need to find good evidence to respond to the RFE ... if it’s denied she will lose her LPR status.

Definitely include a letter on what your situation was.  An affidavit from your parents stating your living situation. Even include paystubs to provide evidence that you were paid with cards so didnt bother with a bank account.

I will see if that bank will have statements from that long ago.  What are tax transcripts?  The letter said that tax returns aren’t evidence that the taxes were filed.   Really all I have from 2016 is my parents statements and tax filing with both names.

Yeah we have paystubs from our jobs.

Do they state how you were being paid? Do you have any evidence at all of comingling finances or why you didnt?

Paystubs from before we had a bank account were from a bank that my company uses to pay employees. They don’t allow joint accounts, I remember trying to do that early on.  A bank account wasn’t really important at the time because we were getting paid through our individual bank cards issued from our employer.

The ref stated that we have evidence of commingling assets, just not enough for the first 6 months of marriage in 2016.  We honestly had no assets to be commingled as a newly married couple. For 2016 all I have is tax transcripts filing and letters from family to send.   We lived with my parents at the time.  I will have to write a letter explaining all this.

we married in May of 2016
