Pandemic “will last 18 months or longer,” leaked US gov’t report warns

The US government is reportedly preparing for the coronavirus pandemic to last 18 months or longer and result in "significant shortages for government, private sector, and individual US consumers."

A 100-page US government plan was leaked to The New York Times, which today published an article summarizing the highlights.

 

The plan's warnings include the following:

• Shortages of products may occur, impacting health care, emergency services, and other elements of critical infrastructure... This includes potentially critical shortages of diagnostics, medical supplies (including PPE [personal protective equipment] and pharmaceuticals), and staffing in some locations.
• State and local governments, as well as critical infrastructure and communications channels, will be stressed and potentially less reliable. These stresses may also increase the challenges of getting updated messages and coordinating guidance to these jurisdictions directly

So it's a good thing that I have been stocking up on essentials and ammo

   The boy scouts motto - be prepared. It works on many levels. Hopefully the pandemic doesn't last that long but it is good to have a contingency plan in place in case it does. We have already seen what can happen when we are not prepared for something.

 

  Annoying that someone leaked it though. We don't need more people panicking.

If there was not such a habit of "rolling disclosure" with this administration, there would be less need for these leaks

How exactly would ammo help? Are you going to also dispose of the corpse of this actual human being that's now rotting in front of you? Clearly, in this scenario, emergency services aren't a thing anymore. 

 

Are you going to tell a kid that you murdered their parents as they were desperately looking for something to feed their children.

Ammo is for the usage of protecting my family and myself from anything or anybody that would do them harm. As to the other part of it yes I will do anything in my power to defend my family.

Personally have a 1000 rounds and well stocked provision wise.

 

I doubt this will last 18mo - prob worst case scenario situation.
