Expedite request question

Hey, so I’ve got a quick question. I done a request for expedite and the response asked for a letter from a government entity. The letter specified “Include a letter from a U.S. government entity that states that the delay in processing of your petition will be detrimental to the government.” What does this mean and who would be the government entity to get the letter from? This is for a Department of Defense request. Thanks!

We may need more info. What was the reason that you stated for the expedite? Expedites are NOT just a simple ask. You have to actually provide documented evidence on why they have to hurry up with your case due to an emergency or extreme financial distress for example. If you tell us the reason you stated for your expedite we may be able to decipher why they are asking for that letter.

I’m requesting due to my unit being on a rotation of being deployed with very short notice such as 24-72 hours notices. I asked the USCIS representatives if we needed to have deployment orders and he told me no since that was my case.

Thanks for the clarification. We have a few military veterans ( @Lucky Cat and @Cyberfx1024 comes to mind)  here that I hope will chime in. I vaguely remember that when requesting to expedite for deployment orders, it is best to provide a copy of the official orders. Hopefully, the others with more knowledge can accurately advise you.

I have seen a case expedited after an active duty member sent a letter from his unit commanding officer.  I'm not sure how the letter was worded to show the benefit to the US government.  I wish @Roel was still around.

For sure! I’ll try to find some sort of letter template and have my commander sign it. It was worded a little weird mentioning a government entity, I wasn’t for sure if that included the commander or like a congressman or something. We don’t have deployment orders right now.

If you are on rotation with valid orders than you can use those. But more than likely you don't have anything official so a letter signed off by your Company Commander detailing everything will suffice. You can then send that letter I'm for the expedite request and more than likely it will be approved.
