Moving to a new state after doing N400 biometrics

I filed the N400 in Las Vegas, NV and did the biometrics there. I then moved to Jacksonville, FL and filed the AR-11 change of address form, which USCIS acknowledged. It has been more than 2 months after biometrics, Jacksonville applicants who have had their biometrics after me are now having their interviews, but mine has still not been scheduled.

 

Have you experienced similar delays when moving to a new state?

Did you specify your pending N400 while changing address with them?

2015-06-16: I-130 Sent

2015-08-17: I-130 approved

2015-09-23: NVC received file

2015-10-05: NVC assigned Case number, Invoice ID & Beneficiary ID

2016-06-30: DS-261 completed, AOS Fee Paid, WL received

2016-07-05: Received IV invoice, IV Fee Paid

2016-07-06: DS-260 Submitted

2016-07-07: AOS and IV Package mailed

2016-07-08: NVC Scan

2016-08-08: Case Complete

2017-06-30: Interview, approved

2017-07-04: Visa in hand

2017-08-01: Entry to US

I know you have to live in a state for 3 months before you can apply to that region's field office. Does the same 3-month rule apply for people who move after submission of the N400 application? Logically it should be the same rule....

CITIZENSHIP TIMELINE

4/2019: Submitted N400

5/2019: Biometrics (3 weeks)

2/2020: Interview (10 months)

3/2020: Oath & naturalization (11 months)

6/2020: Passport received (3 months)

Officially a U.S. Citizen!

Yes, I did call USCIS to also update the address with the N400 and they confirmed this through a letter they sent me.

 

The rule requires only that you live somewhere for three months before filing your application. You can move to a new state or USCIS service district after you file your application and USCIS will continue to process it. OK - but there may still be some lag time in regards to the transfer and the new office picking up your case. I don’t know hoy they position new residents in their interview line.

I di send a letter to the new Jacksonville office, but they have not replied yet (it has only been 10 days, though). Maybe I should write another letter, this time to the Las Vegas office.

Sending letter to the field office is pointless, any issues you contact the USCIS customer service number.

01/2016: Petition filed for my visa
02/2016: USCIS confirmed receiving our file/petition on 1st Feb.
04/2016: I-130 Approval email received from DHS towards early May, our case was approved end of April. 
03/2017: Paid AoS and IV Bill
03/2017: Sent AoS and IV Packages via mail.
04/2017: 5th day of April, NVC received package. Can take up to 11 weeks for CC according to nvc.

06/2017: 6th day of June, Case Completed - confirmed via phone

07/2017: Interviewed end of July 2017.

>> Passport with Visa received the next day of interview 

8/2017: POE via JFK


05/2020: N400 Filed

06/2021: Biometrics taken

02/2022: Interview Scheduled (Yes, after 22 months -.- )
