Not if your local office is one of the faster ones. If they process faster than the NBC who's working on EAD/AP you'll get your greencard straight away without getting an EAD/ AP card.

That's very common, actually (my wife got her interview notice before her EAD/AP was approved, though she did get the card before her interview).

If your field office (or just your case) is especially fast, you could get a GC without ever getting an EAD.

All family-based AOS (and the EADs and APs connected to them) is handled at the National Benefits Center initially.

By VJ stats at least, Detroit is a relatively fast field office; it's averaging about 4.5 months from application to interview.

Hi there!

i got my interview notice before i get my EAD card or my work permit. I did my biometric before 40 days.

is it normal? Cuz i have heard that EAD arrives before GC interview

thanks

This just happened to me today. Completed my biomectrics 21 days ago and today I just checked the status of my application and it says my case is ready for an interview before I've even received EAD and AP

This also happened to my wife. We submitted the application in early October and interviewed in late January. For those that already completed the process, how long did it take for the social security card to arrive? Since the EAD application is cancelled with the approval of green card, we weren't sure when/if the ssc will arrive.

Thanks

I think if your green card application was approved before the EAD and you didn't already get a Social Security Card, you'll have to go to your local SSA office and apply for one in-person.

That is not an interview notice, which is what OP got.  "Case is ready for interview" status can be up for a year or more before "Interview has been scheduled" appears.

We've got our Interview was scheduled message today!!! :) How long does it take from the notice to the actual interview? I'm going away for work for the next two weeks and I worry that it will be around my travel dates.

Not sure if there is variation between local field offices, but my husband's notice arrived about 4 weeks before the interview.

True that! Ours said ready for interview for 3 months before interview scheduled appeared. Ready for interview just means you're back in the waiting game.
