It's been really foggy here for the past couple of days, and I think it wasn't just restricted to the coastline. It could be that the weather had something to do with it.

Just read that the company that operated the helicopter was not certified for IFR flight. Ouch

I thought it is the Pilot who is certified not the Company.

No expert in the matter but from what I read the company has to be certified and go thru a stringent process to be certified to operate charter flights  IFR. I dead read the pilot was IFR certified but had no experience in flying IFR in his logs.

 

Perhaps we have some aviation enthusiasts that could offer more insight
