221g form, k1 visa, Russia

Hi everyone!My interview on k1 visa was 01/15/2020. After the interview they gave me 221g paper and kept my passport. And after that the status of my case changed to 'Administrative processing'. Did anyone have this? and how long can it be ?

What was the reason stated on the 221g ..has  additional documentation been requested ?

If anything is checked on the 221(g) that would help us know.   However sometimes nothing is checked and it simply means they need more time for checking documents or background.   

 

Everyone goes into AP.  Usually it lasts a few days or a week.  However it is open ended and can last months or years.

 

The fact they kept you passport is usually a good sign.  Give it some time, like a month or so.  Try not to stress out about because there is absolutely nothing you or anyone can do to move it along.

We need a little housekeeping on your end. Many of our answers are predicated on the information you supply in your profile. If you were to upload a picture of the 221g with your personal information blocked then we could give you a better answer. Without details we can only give you general information.

 

No one can say with any certainty when your visa will be issued. Administrative processing is at its most frustrating when it goes on for several months. Typically this is caused by a consular post waiting for a response on some form of advisory opinion. Although, as was experienced in 2014 and 2015, processing delays may also result from system failures in the Consular Consolidated Database (CCD) and more recently due to additional administrative hurdles such as the recent flurry of executive orders regarding visa issuance. We have seen some who have experienced very long delays sometimes beyond a year. But those are rare. I hate to sing the same tune but patience is what is needed.

 

So using CEAC this is what you will see just after the interview:

 

When the Embassy is ready to issue a visa, it will change to "Nonimmigrant Visa Application"; at that time, you will know that you are a few days away from getting the visa. It will go from "Immigrant Visa Application" to "Nonimmigrant Visa Application" status and then your visa changes to "Ready" ==> "Administrative Processing" ==>> "Issued" status as well. These steps sometimes transpire over a day or even a few days. Some smaller Embassy's it happens within hours.

 

Sometimes, it might skip "Administrative Processing" and go from "Ready" to "Issued".

 

Just need a little more patience.

Thank you very much for responding to my question.  Now immigrant case status: immigrant Visa application.  And by nonimmigrant: No status.  And in 221g it is indicated that they dont need any documents and the reason is administrative processing.  My fiance is an army man, maybe this is the reason.  Or  that I have been living in Korea for 2 years.  We met with my fience there.

Administrative processing (AP) has no set limits, it can go as short, or as long, as is determined by the administrative agency deems appropriate. All you can do is sit back, relax, and wait for them to done.
