Well the short answer is yes, provide you have all the right documents to enter Canada. Canada doesn’t care if there is a pending I-130 for you from the US, none of their business. To enter Canada you either need a visa or if you are from certain countries, there is a visa waiver program. Applying for express entry doesn’t have anything to do with anything else, it’s a completely separate thing.

 

The only thing that would be very hard if not impossible is to maintain permanent residency for both Canada and US at the same time.

I am an Optometrist in Nigeria. My wife and I  received the NOA 1 in October 1st 2019. I am 29 and my wife is 54. She doesn’t look the age one bit though. Having gone through different forums as regards the age difference, I am bothered. We met 2014 when she came to Nigeria For few weeks. We stayed friends even while she went back to the USA until April 2018 when we started dating. We got married August 2, 2019. She was here for two weeks .She is visiting in 2months for another 2weeks. We discussed about my concerns as regards the age difference yesterday. She says I can’t be denied just because of that though..So that was the reason I asked about Canada express entry. We hope and pray for the best. But Incase it doesn’t go as planned will it be okay if I start the express entry too. Your advice will be so much appreciated.  Thank you.

If you can get to Canada you will not be able to interview there unless you have legal residency. 

 

But if you can get to Canada and she is close by you can spend more time together.

 

My Filipino wife was able to get a visa for Canada while the I-130 was pending.  So that is definitely doable.

She is right, age difference alone is not a reason for denial, but of course it does lead the CO to other questions.  The main piece of advice to couples with a similar age difference is as much time in person as possible.  If you can get to Canada to facilitate more in person time, then great.  All you can do is try.

Hello. I don’t know if  this is the right forum, but I do need advice. I am married to a USC. From calculations my petition will be approved in Sept and interview before December. Right now there is a ban on the Immigrant Visajn my country Nigeria, from the look of things the Nigerian Government is distracted and has channeled resources to tackle this Coronavirus, thus making us uncertain as to when they will satisfy the US criteria in uplifting the Ban. Now, with an on- going petition yet to be approved and been an Optometrist . I am thinking applying for “express  entry Canada”- a route that leads one to becoming a Permanent Resident in Canada(takes about 18months) or better still applying for an Msc in a Canadian Uni. If I can get myself to Canada,It just takes my wife 2hours from her state in the US to meet me in Canada.As it is I am not getting any younger the Older I become ,the  lesser my points for the express entry Canada.My questions are
1. Is it safe to venture in the Express entry route to Canada? Or just go for schooling for my  masters degree or just wait til this ban is lifted(I don’t know when it will be lifted)
2. When it gets to the time of my US interview . Will the Vo’s find out I applied to Canada. If asked if I applied for any other countries Visa is it okay to come out plain or hide such info?I just need advice pls

I can’t tell you what to do but there is a website for Canada similar to this one called CanadaVisa.com so you can do some research. I don’t think you can hide it because to my understanding US and Canada share immigration information.
