we filed 2 days ago and I (beneficiary) was made redundant from my job yesterday! :( I was in a comfortable job, and was saving for the eventual move, so this very annoying, onwards and upwards though I suppose!

For those of us who don't know the "English" term "redundant" I can surmise that you lost your job because of too many people doing the same thing and now they don't need you. Do I have that right? If so I am sorry this happened to you. Just pick yourself up and know that your life is changing so this too had to change but just didn't happen on your schedule.

sorry, no, it means that the company i work for have lost a major contract so my job is no longer there. It would be the similar case if a company went into financial difficulties, and all of a sudden couldn’t afford to pay its employees, it would then have to lay off employees to try and save money.

I thought so. We here in American sometimes have problems with the "Queens English" and I just wanted to understand how you use that word. Thanks for the reply. Again, chin up mate. Let's get the visa done and turn a new leaf as we say in the States.

The 'Queens English' is sometimes just as confusing so it's understandable!

Thank you! Always light at the end of the tunnel! :)

Mileage may vary? Could you elaborate on this for me please?

What works for someone doesn't necessarily mean that it will work for you. Each person is different, each case is different, each embassy is different. Don't expect the same for you as you see from others.
