Hello everyone, I'm hoping to get some clarification on my situation. I'm sorry if this has been asked before. Just a little background, I'm a Canadian and my fiance is the US citizen.

I received our K-1 Visa Approval Notice letter in the mail saying that our petition was approved and USCIS has finished their part of the job. Our visa was moved to NVC who then stated (on March 3, 2020) they will be forwarding our petition to the U.S. Embassy or Consulate in Montreal, Canada. We already have our MLT number!

We haven't gotten any mail or updates since March 3, 2020 and I'm a bit worried. I read on the forum that we should send in our "packet 3" but we have not received any mailed instructions to do so. When I called NVC, they had no idea what this packet 3 is. Our I-797 Notice of action/approval notice is only valid from January 29, 2020 to May 28, 2020.

Does anyone have any advice for me? Anything will help, thanks!

I invite you do download the PDF file in the first post on the first page of this thread where you will find all your answers to the questions you are asking and quite possibly those that will come up in the future.

Next:

We need a little housekeeping on your end. Many of our answers are predicated on the information you supply in your profile. When we look at the left column and can't determine your timeline OR your Embassy it's hard for us to give you a factual answer. Our answers will sometimes be tailored to a specific Embassy hence the reason for you to complete your profile. If you look at the profile of others here, they have a flag for their country, so it makes it easy for us to reply as we can quickly determine their Embassy. The country that should be used is the country where the interview will take place.

So, if you could help yourself out and complete your profile that sure would help us out when we want to reply to your question with factual information.

Once you finish that then return and you will see a flag in your profile. Select it and see what wonderful information will open up for you.

Thanks

Have you checked ceac's website since the NVC forwarded it?

Did it ever say in transit? Or ready?

Once it gets to the embassy, it gets the first ready, and then you will see the second ready when the date changes.

The second ready is when Montreal sends you the packet 3 checklist.

So you should check the CEAC website to see what it says.

Edit: My case also left on the 3rd, and showed up in Montreal on the 5th.

I had 2 readys after that and sent the packet 3 in....of course though, the embassy closed and never got packet 4, but you should be in the same situation. -- unless there's something weird going on of course

Thanks for your reply! How were you able to check that your case arrived in Montreal on the 5th? And did you physically get a letter asking you to submit your packet 3?

Edit: I just filled out the DS-160. I had no idea this needed to be done... Would this be the reason why there has been no update for my case yet?

The CEAC website. That's where you check it.

That's what I told you to check. ceac.state.gov  -- make sure to choose immigrant in dropdown list even though we are technically non-immigrant

You should have been checking that the moment you got the NVC number.

Emailed the Croatia embassy since our i129-F petition was valid until May 21, they extended it for another 4 months, no documents needed to be sent. Nothing else to do, really.

Hope everyone is healthy, staying safe and strong as much as they can. I send virtual hugs to all of you.

There is some useful information in the PDF that the link is posted on the first page of this thread in the first post. It will give you many ways to follow your case and stay on top of things. Good luck and stay engaged.

Hi all.. I just received an email that my June 1st interview is being cancelled which means that the embassy will extend their closure of consular office.

Right now the first available was in July. I am so freaking pissed 🤕

PS This is for the embassy in Bosnia.. hopefully someone has info for other countries, but I'm assuming it will be the same

Wishing you the best on your journey! I had a few questions for you as my fiancé is also from bosnia, for the P3 that you received did they email or mail it to you? Also do you know if you can do the medical and interview on the same day or do you need to go to Sarajevo separately for both?

thank you!

All I have is this https://ais.usvisa-info.com/en-ba/niv/information/required_docs which should be a good start. Also read what is here on VJ http://www.visajourney.com/consulates/index.php?ctry=Bosnia-Herzegovina&cty=Sarajevo.

https://www.visajourney.com/portals/index.php?country=Bosnia-Herzegovina

If you get a copy of the P3 letter and would like to share it with me, I use it to help others after you are well on your way. Just PM me here on VJ when you have a copy.

And use the advance search here on VJ to look for information needed for the interview https://www.visajourney.com/search/

If you find anything not up to date or the information is wrong, please share your findings. Please compare the date of the P3 of mine with the date from your copy, once you receive yours from your embassy. Keep in mind that I try and be factual with my information, but I can't do it on my own and that's where you come in and can give back to the community those who come behind you. Without others ahead of you I would not be able to provide this to you.  I can only share factual information if folks like you continue to be my eyes and ears for your embassy. I wish you much success in your visa journey.

thank you!

I received it by email, assuming because they had my email address on file.

Once you receive it, you’ll have to do the medical first, it takes one day to do it, and the doctor will take couple of days to deliver it to the embassy.

Both doctors are from Sarajevo, so I’m assuming you’ll have to come to them for medical and then after you collect all the required documents you schedule the interview. Good luck

Hello everyone,

Hope this message finds you well and healthy, I have a question.

So my fiance is stuck back in Guatemala, the airport is closed and they are planing on opening it back up on Sep 1st.

My fiance got his K1 Visa approved from March 10th and it will expire on Sep 10th.

What would happen when my fiance enters the U.S. Assuming on Sep 1st. would we still have 90 days to get married or we will only have 9 days due to the validity of the visa?
