2. I think they are changing that with the current Administration to charge much more for the GC. The fees are going into effect this year I believe. Someone in here shared a link. I can't find the USCIS one, but here is a different article on that.

@national @Sparkle Sparkle

Tell me about it! I've been on that thread more than any others! Hahaha They haven't touched November yet. Well, except for the one random approval. Probably military or something...

Yeah am sure it's military, well good for them... Can't wait for those that have NOA1 first week of December, I guess the are over 50days now... That's half way of the present average.. Patiently waiting.

1. Usually guys don't have any issue if they apply before or after because it's assumed a woman will take her husband's last name. Overall it's better you apply ASAP

2.when filed  with AOS  EAD is free of charge

3. Yes She can fly around with her passport in hand and a copy of I-94

1. Great. So I guess we can apply for SSN on her last name after marriage  anyways.

2. Wow, how I missed that... That's great then. Regarding the potential change of that from Trump administration, it hasn't been accepted and still on review. So we cannot say that they will increase the fee.

3. That's what I thought. Thanks!

Hello everyone. I've been monitoring silently this peaceful and helpful topic for a month and finally got some questions to ask.

My NOA1 for K1 was December, 16. My fiancee started gathering documents and doing vaccination while waiting for visa interview. From my side - I am trying to clear up further actions for next steps.

1. I'd like some advice on SSN after fiancee arrival. Is it OK to get SSN before marriage or after? Or actually wait until Adjustment of Status completed?

2. I am Chicago filler, wait time for AOS is about 6 months. So does it really make sense applying for Employment Authorization document, which ETA will be about 5 months and cost not little?

3. After entry to the US, can she fly around the country freely just using her passport? What about the flights to be occurred after 90 days of entry?

Thank you very much! If anyone has questions to me I'd like to contribute my experience!

Q1 - The best thing to do is get the SSN before your married. Go to the SS office the first week and file. There is a forum that talks about what to do to get a SSN and the merits of getting it sooner then later.

Q2. - lf you think that she will need it to go back too her country in an emergency then get it else you are not required.

Q3 - She can fly in any of the 50 states on a passport.

Always wanted to do it, guess it's the time. Done :)

We need a little housekeeping on your end. Many of our answers are predicated on the information you supply in your profile. When we look at the left column and can't determine your timeline OR your Embassy it's hard for us to give you a factual answer. Our answers will sometimes be tailored to a specific Embassy hence the reason for you to complete your profile. If you look at the profile of others here, they have a flag for their country, so it makes it easy for us to reply as we can quickly determine their Embassy. The country that should be used is the country where the interview will take place.

So, if you could help yourself out and complete your profile that sure would help us out when we want to reply to your question with factual information.

Go to the top right of this page select your name (it's on the upper right-hand corner)>my profile>[below your picture on the right column] edit my profile. Scroll to the bottom and fill in "Immigration Info". There now we can better serve you.

Once you finish that then return and you will see a flag in your profile. Select it and see what wonderful information will open up for you.

Thanks

I hate to break it to you sweetheart but at the rate things are going... It's unlikely. I don't understand why we being hit this hard... They are increasing fees and restricting immigration at the same time..I know its sad and we are all under pressure and fear.. But let's take it one step at a time... Petition approval first then we walk through the rest.

I hope they hold off as well. Do you think we would be done filing for AOS by then? 😄 Me and my fiance are hoping to get married in the 2nd half of May, but maybe the very beginning of June. Maybe earlier? Idk!!! When is the NOA2 going to show up? :P Actually, as soon as we know the interview date, we are planning everything asap. He's a bit restless knowing that he wouldn't be able to work for some months, so he wants to do this asap. We've been looking at  beach wedding ceremonies in Hawaii, but we can't book anything before we know the interview date. I want something simple as far as the organizing goes, but with beautiful views to make up for the fact that our family in Europe cannot join us...

They are trying to limit immigration to the states as much as possible... Kind of sad.

For many, many years we have kept the doors open to the rest of the world but that world is changing. The example is look at what happened in Europe with the "boat people". We want our citizens to be safe, healthy and able to assimilate within our society. It's sad that it has to be that way but we can't keep taking people willy nilly. I just finished processing my wife for naturalization and she is now a US Citizen. My step-daughter and her husband just submitted her paperwork with bio-metrics scheduled. He received his citizenship through the military. He is about to reenlist for another 4 years. I feel we are the type of people that this country wants. We work hard, we belong to our community and we are not criminals.

Ok. Time to get off my soap box.

Ella I honestly don’t know right now lol. It all depends on NOA2 like you said. To not stress myself, I’ve been just thinking the noa2 will come April. Once Andrew gets here we’re just going to the court house and getting married because I don’t want stress myself trying to plan a quick wedding in a month, and deal with the AOS process. We are having a wedding next summer in Jamaica. That way his family will be able to attend, we can save up the money, and it gives me time to plan, but I’m not putting a down payment down it visa is IN HAND. So those are my plans. I’m focusing on K1 process and then the AOS process, and then I’ll worry about a wedding. I also have kids so I’m not allowing this visa process to take over my life. I have other priorities.

And that’s sad because we’re paying all this money to may possibly get denials now. This is frustrating
