Hello,

I had my final document approved after appealing via a Senator. They were asking for 2018 tax returns, and my sponsor has his own accountancy firm, so he filled extensions for his wife (my in-laws). The NVC said they still wanted to see the 2018 tax return, but we pointed them towards the letter from his firm (uploaded in August) that states extensions have been filed.

So they approved that letter...and then said they want proof of employment from my sponsor, his wife and my wife.

Our lawyer thinks there is a chance that even if we get approval that when we have our consulate interview that they will reject me because I have not presented the 2018 taxes. You can not being new documents to the consulate interview too.

Has anyone else heard of people being rejected at interview stage for this reason?

Any insight would be much appreciated

I personally haven’t  heard of it happening at interview stage, but who’s to say it hasn’t, I’m sure it has at some point.. on the up side, you’ll be going via Sydney which isn’t as stringent as many other consulates.. so fingers crossed...

maybe in the letter from employer, have them expand to disclose annual income, duration of employment etc to help cover off on what’s usually contained within tax transcripts etc, it may or may not help though.. it’s likely got something to do with the reinvigorated public charge rules given its an extension they’ll be pushing to make sure the sponsor can support

Have a question, iam starting my nvc process and i just knew that i will need to submit my tax transcript for the last year, i put single in the filing status as my accountant advised me back then as my wife is not in the states,

Will this be a problem when i submit it as i suppose to get a marriage immigrant visa ??

I guess leaving people in limbo is part of their modus operandi so that no one will ever figure them out clear enough to beat the system.

What do I know!

Modus Operandi is the name of a local beer where I live haha. I had to read it twice to realise you for sure were no talking it :)
