Hi all,

I'm currently waiting for my AOS to be "approved" and in the meantime my Green Card has already expired. I received a letter that states my status has been extended for 16 months and I can work and travel but I'm wondering if it's safe to do so? I'm planning on traveling out of the country for vacation but I also need to travel for work.

I would appreciate any feedback or experience anyone's had with this :)

The expired green card and the extension letter together provide your evidence of lawful stay. Yes you can travel and reenter the US using the two documents together

Regards,

Please clarify:   Are you waiting for Removal of Conditions?  If so, your Green card expiration date was extended for 18 months by the letter.

Regards,

The correct term is Removal of Conditions (ROC). When you applied for ROC, you received an 18month extension letter. This letter extends the valid date on your "conditional GC" for 18 months. In the VJ ROC forum, the first topic is a 47 page thread, with 609 replies, about traveling using your extension letter:

Since it is your GC extension letter, it also extends you ability to work while your ROC is processed.

It is impossible to tell where you are in your immigration journey, your timeline is vacant. :time: It helps everyone that uses, or gets information from the forum.

Completed: K1/K2 (271 days) - AOS/EAD/AP (134 days) - ROC (279 days)
