The spousal visa was a suggestion (on my part at least) in the worst case scenario of the K-1 not working out. Sorry if that advice doesn’t fit your desires.

In reality it may not even be an issue. Just be upfront and don’t lie about it. Im just one of those people who think it’s wise to hope for the best but still prepare for the worst. Good luck.

Oh don’t worry about it, it was simply a miscommunication, no worries. I just thought people were advocating for me to drop my petition over this! I understand if it was said as a back up plan, in fact, it’s good advice for a backup plan. The only way it would work however is in a country like Iceland, due to the specific limitations of our circumstances, and sure it wouldn’t be ideal, but it wouldn’t mean we would never be together. You’re right. Thanks for the good wishes. I have decided to be totally honest with them about it and not to delete anything. We don’t have anything to hide... I’ve also spoken to some friends that have been following our journey and they said the same. That’s what we are gonna do. Thanks for the advice, you’re right. Honesty is the best policy here.

It's impossible to know how they will treat the social media names section as it's only been requested for a month or 2.

That said, it's directly on the DS-160, which is something they look at. And it does make one wonder just as (not saying in addition to) if they used the same last name on facebook or in chatting software. I know people who have done that and aren't even in a romantic relationship. But it's also obviously something common among spouses.

Please report back with how it goes.

I will report back when we hear more info. It’s literally not on any other social media platform. Our facebooks have normal names, we communicate through Facebook chat, and we are listed as engaged. Same as twitter.

Just to chime in for a moment on the marriage locations, in case anyone else reads this. Gibraltar is a great option, since it only requires spending one night there, and does not have the same requirements as the UK & Home office.

And, naturally, it is all in English. Doesn't require apostilles, and has same-sex marriages.
