Most employers have a 90 day wait before you can enroll in any health coverage. If you are cash paying at a dentist if it is something simple just work out a deal cash. Fillings are usually 30-40 dollars. tooth extraction is around 100. If you are looking for major dental work it won't be cheap. even with insurance the dental plans usually have a max of 3-5 thousand a year in benefits, so that would get you maybe a few implants. Most places will have a dentist office offering a exam, x-rays, and cleaning for around 79-99 dollars if you look around. even check on groupon for a deal. If it isn't anything major, I would just cash pay and get it fixed before it become expensive.

Even with the EAD you still have to find a job, get hired, and work out the wait period before coverage is available unless the employer offers immediate coverage, and that is kinda rare, so if you can wait another 4 months or so, wait, if not I would just cash pay it. Also look into some dental schools if you have any in the area, I have been a patient at College of Southern Nevada dental school many times, and get great dental care from the students for free or really cheap. They are all supervised by a licensed dentist, so no real risk.

True, my plan at work medical, dental, and vision are all separate plans.

Health insurance was always available to me from my hired date, it seems to depends on the employer/line of work a lot.

Agree every job I have ever worked that provided benefits - they started on first day of work.
