Entering the US on CR-1 Spouse Visa with Pet

Hello!

My husband and I are currently both living outside of the US. I (the petitioner) am going back to the US first, and my husband (beneficiary) will be following after. Ideally, we would like him to bring our cat with him when he comes. Has anyone had an experience entering the US on this type of VISA (CR-1 Spousal VISA) with a cat or pet? Our main concern is if VISA holders are permitted to enter the US with a pet.

Thank you in advance for sharing your experiences and any tips!

Visa holders are allowed to bring pets, that has nothing to do with immigration status.

We brought a dog to the US under J-1/J-2

It’s fine to have your pets with you.

you just need to check what you need to present from your vet, the animal may need vaccines and stuff.

also check with the airline what do they need from you, if they’re allowed in the cabin and whatnot

Where did you got that idea from that Visa holder are permitted to bring a pet? I know about at least 3 people from the german subforum who did it and I'm planning on doing so aswell 😊

This.

I'll send my cats ahead with a specialized company for animal transportation. Not cheap but the easiest way.

You are allowed to travel with your pet dog, cat, hamster, etc. as long as they have their updated vaccines and clearance to fly on an aircraft from the veterinarian ;)

I've brought my dog to the USA before we applied for the K-1 visa and left him there. Everything went well! :3

Just make sure you have all needed papers for the animal like proof of all vaccinations and a health certificate which can't be older than 10 days before departure.
