Hello everyone,

When looking at this link : https://www.visajourney.com/timeline/irstats.php?history=360

I am wondering why there are such big differences in the treatment of our files, according to different nationalities.

If anyone has any infos on that, I would love to know more.

Thank you very much.

Take care :)

Sample size, unique case factors, and country infrastructure all play a part in processing time.

You  are looking only at members stats from VJ and in no way does this reflect the over 6,000,000 applications that immigration is handling

and it does not show the # of applications currently in each office

it is only here to help VJ members get an idea of a possible timeline

check the quarterly numbers from immigraiton

I've been a member of Visa Journey for nearly a year now, reading threads and experiences shared by members almost every day.  The two biggest factors that determine total processing time for a spousal visa are number 1, the service center where your I-130 petition is sent by USCIS (right now for example, Potomac Service Center is taking 4 or 5  months, Nebraska is almost 11 months, our petition was approved in 7 months at Texas Service Center), and number 2, the consulate or embassy where the interview will be and its backlog to set an interview (we just got an interview email yesterday for Brazil, it only took 19 days from case complete at NVC, vs. Mexico where it is taking 9 months to set the interview).  NVC is about the same for every case, about three months, sometimes 4, but the petition approval at USCIS varies a lot based on which service center, and time to get an interview date depends on which country.  Average total time from filing the petition to the interview abroad is 12-14 months right now.

Thank you very much Carmel. I was very surprised to see that for French citizen, it takes much more than most people (I guess the agent at the Parisian Ambassy took the French habit to take full 2 hours of break for their lunch, which slows down the files completion 😉 ). I am any way basing my "patience stamina" on the average time of 12 months. Will see. All best, Alix

Its best to assume this process will take you 18-24 months and be happy if takes less.
