I think that will be fine. Be sure to check hours of operations as my SS office is only a half day on Wednesday's.

If we are bringing the Acta to the SS office, does this need to be translated beforehand?  What else do we need to take to the office beside the passport, 194, and birth certificate?  We are trying to avoid delays.

@Andrea + Gaston Could you please share the link again for translating the Acta?  Thanks!  I know we had it somewhere, but everything is getting crazy over here!

@Fe.Ta I went after 2 weeks and information wasn’t still in the system. They still took my application but they say they needed the check up from Homeland Security first and then they will produce the card.

So true!  Did you upload it as a scan?  Did you use the one that was legalized and apostilled?

Did you go before or after marriage? I think after marriage it takes longer to process. Or maybe they just weren't familiar with the K1 visa, that happens sometimes.

 

Which SSA office did you go to in NYC? We are planning to go to the one in downtown Brooklyn.

Yep, scanned and uploaded everything! For us, we have 4 pages total for the digital birth certificate (birth certificate page, certification with legalization stamp page, receipt page, apostille page). Hope this helps!

Also note that Thursday (7/4) is a holiday so most government offices are closed

Yes, I know.  Thanks for the input though.  Because we are missing the translation, we might not get to it until Friday.  We are hoping that doesn't cause any issues.

That was for the name change. I already had my ssn card from last year when I worked with a J1 visa. 

I went to the office in Jamaica for the name change. But last year I went to one in FiDi for the card

Do you know that you can translate it yourself? And then a certified letter under it?

that what I did with mine because a person that went through AOS last year recommended as on doing.

What do you mean by a certified letter? Who certifies it?
