So the Democrats aren't willing to put their money where their mouth is for the idea they praise in their friendly media and blame the GOP for playing politics.  I wonder, are the Dems mad that the GOP took this item off the table for the next election cycle?  So who is really playing politics here?

The Green New Deal, a sweeping Democratic proposal for dealing with climate change, fell at the first hurdle Tuesday as the Senate failed to reach the 60 votes necessary to begin debate on the non-binding resolution, with 42 Democrats and Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., voting "present."

No senator voted to begin debate on the legislation, while 57 lawmakers voted against breaking the filibuster. Democratic Sens. Doug Jones of Alabama, Joe Manchin of West Virginia and Kyrsten Sinema of Arizona joined 53 Republicans in voting "no." Sen. Angus King, I-Maine, who caucuses with the Democrats, also voted "no."

The vote had been teed up by Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., in a bid to make Democratic senators -- including several 2020 presidential candidates -- go on the record about the measure. McConnell had called the proposal "a radical, top-down, socialist makeover of the entire U.S. economy."

 

The Green New Deal calls for the U.S. to shift away from fossil fuels such as oil and coal and replace them with renewable sources such as wind and solar power. It calls for virtual elimination by 2030 of greenhouse gas emissions responsible for global warming. Republicans have railed against the proposal, saying it would devastate the economy and trigger massive tax increases.

Made it even worse when she was hot and senior officers would give her some postion of authority, they should not be in.

 

I remember one that some Lt Col had giving briefings that required us to ask questions. She got snippy one time and we absolutely eviscerated

 her. Had the #$%% in tears

So if I am understanding the full implications of this, the democrats clearly do NOT care about the planet and the future of the world???

Proposed a bill then got made cause they voted on it. Sounds like one of those women things. I had a girl call and break up with me once. I was ok cool, busy talk to you later. as much as i am in favor of moving towards renewable energy, what she is proposing is waaaay to much too fast, this is the sort of thing that would need a lot more planning rather than just to have it thrown out there.

 

 

11 years is way too unrealistic for a project of this scope, it would have to go through at least 2-3 decades of incremental change for it to be reasonable, and even then it would have to be sold to a lot of people who would be opposed to it at every turn instead of just shoved down everyones throat

Efficiency gains, renewable energy sources (not certain the Earth is not still manufacturing oil, coal) always should be a goal of everyone.  What gets me is the "sky is falling" mentality, and all the blame on mankind.  Do you ever notice that every dire prediction is always a minimum of 10 years out.  Another thing that gets me is the incessant tying of every major weather event to climate change, do they really think we are so stupid to not remember that tornados, hurricanes/cyclones and blizzards have been happening over a large portion of this planet's history?
