AOS for k1

Can you please share your experience. I live in Chicago and sent my package for AOS k1 visa 10 days ago. I got text messages and notice in the mail. How long to wait for EAD/AP? I heard that it is very long time to wait in cities like Chicago for green card. Thank you

4 - 6 months for EAD/AP

12 months-ish for Green Card.

EAD & AP are processed by the NBC. ETA: ~4-7 months.

AOS is processed by the local USCIS field office. Chicago is taking  13.5 Months to 36 Months (50% to 93% adjudication rates) : https://egov.uscis.gov/processing-times/

The given estimates are accurate but each case varies. Some people get lucky and get it done quickly and others have to wait unfortunately. Also can depend on if there are any RFE's.

Is mentioned above, EAD/AP is processed at the NBC, so the timeline is between 4-7 months. 

The Chicago field office is one of the slower field offices, with processing times anywhere from 9 months to the 36 months like mentioned on the USCIS processing times page. 

 

We did our AOS through the Chicago field office. Filed the I-485 in September 2017 and my husband had his green card interview in August 2018. It look a little over 4 months. This was back in early 2018 when EAD/AP processing was slightly quicker (around 3-5 months).
