Manila typically does not consider assets, so I would look st obtaining employment (you have a while still!). Manila only accepts a co sponsor on a case by case basis, typically a close family relative stands a good chance.

This is kind of uncharted territory as far as immigration goes, but I would think as long as the marriage takes place in a state where 1st cousin marriages are legal, then there would be no issue. It's not unusual to marry in another state (or country).

It’s not uncharted by far. haha It’s not a common case, but it does come up every so often on VJ.

Typically they will want evidence of residence or intent to become a resident in a state where the marriage is legal. Just traveling to another state probably won’t suffice. People have received an RFE for this evidence.

I should have clarified, I meant uncharted territory for me/my knowledge of how it affects immigration.

Thank you. Yes I need to look into the co-sponsor thing a bit more. I only came across it once when researching other things and it said Philippines may not allow a co-sponsor. Today during a free consultation I asked and the lawyer said I should still be able to do it though. He said he would have to look into specifics about the Philippines to make sure (which won't be free and I have yet to decide on a lawyer to go with). He also mentioned issues with the house but you're still able to claim it. The more I learn the more I'm disheartened by the whole thing, but I'll keep pressing on. Hopefully I can find a new job soon to get rolling on the current income for this year.

Manila has always accepted Co Sponsors, but it has pretty much been on a case by case basis for at least the last 20 years that I am aware of.

Just when you think you have TDS eradicate,  a new case shows up.

you can marry in another state and live in Ohio

but why not (at this time)  consider sending out your resume to states that do allow this

you can always sell the house or rent it out

so  you need the job

the immigration process is not cheap

look into the costs of each K1 and CR1 / we find CR1 cheaper in the long run

and i am sure at this point you don't have the money for a tirp to Phillipines to marry

do the proper steps

check out the costs

get the job

save money for the application

make sure you have seen her within 2 years of interview

make sure you have done your tax returns
