Dark mode/dark theme option for VJ?

Not sure if anyone else would be interested but....it would be great if there was an option to view the forums with a "dark mode" to make it easier on the eyes, especially during night time when the bright white background is a little overwhelming for the eyes. Reddit now offers this, here's an example of how it looks:

 

 

Just wanted to start a thread about it to see if anyone else would be interested in this option or if it is even possible for the admins to add. I'm seeing "dark mode" options on more and more websites so it seems like it is gaining in popularity.

I've always found the white lettering on black background harder to read, than vice-versa personally...but I see how it may be useful to some.

 

As an aside, quite curious about that "Rub Her Belly and She Becomes A Vampire" thread going on there.

An awful idea: a browser add-on that allows you to change it on your choice but it doesn´t change the site nor the other devices you view it on.

Sorry but...why awful? It wasn't a suggestion to overhaul the entire site, merely to add a "mode" that one could opt into if one wanted. I was not suggesting to get rid of the current design at all. Reddit still has the normal mode, you just opt into the dark mode with a button. This is what I was suggesting.

 

I currently use the browser add ons and they are slow, buggy and don't function as smoothly as it does on Reddit, where you can easily toggle between the normal "white" mode and dark mode. A lot of websites and software are adding it as an option because the add ons don't function as well as something built into the code of the site and have fewer bugs/glitches.

I guessed awful because it´s something to add-on on your browser vs doing it the easy way on the site mode. Still roughly a good idea though despite the bugs.

Agreed! It's much easier on the eyes, imo. I believe there's a way to code it into the website but that would be an IT question, I suppose. I really like the idea, though!

I've been using this add on for Chrome/Firefox in the meantime, but it can be a bit laggy at times:

Glad I could help! I can't live without it.  I work on the computer almost exclusively at my job and I would be blind if it weren't for those Dark Mode add ons, haha.

Me too! This works wonders. I had downloaded f.lux, which is like a daylight simulator to go easier on the eyes but this is much better. lol

 

Oh, and congrats on the Moderator position!!

I have f.lux as well, which also helps. I know more and more companies are offering a Dark Mode interface, even Windows and MacOS offer it now, which is great!
