No. An I-485 is only required for people adjusting status from a non-immigrant visa to LPR within the US. For someone pursuing an immigrant visa from overseas an I-485 is not required.

So will her parents be automatically be given 10 year green cards upon their arrival?

Parents are immediate relatives, so ~12-14 months from submitting the I-130 until PoE would be a reasonable bet.

I'm a citizen but I created this profile on VJ for my wife's journey so I agree with your curiosity.
