Wait, I'm confused with OP's AOS dates and N-400 filing.

AOS

Interview Date: 2015-09-22

Approval/Denial Date: 2016-01-08

Citizenship

Date Filed: 2018-08-13

NOA Date: 2018-08-14

Between I-485 approval and N-400 filing, ~33 months (3 years - 90 days) had not passed yet. Or was AOS actually approved near Oct 2015 and not in Jan 2016?

Hi all, I haven't been on this forum in quite some time but this is where I got the most support back in my K1 visa days so I felt it was fitting to return today and share that we are DONE with our immigration journey! I had my N400 interview on 2/6 and they asked me to return two hours later for my oath ceremony. I wanted to let you all know, whatever stage of the journey you are at, that despite how stressful and frustrating this process is, it is so worth it when you attend that oath ceremony and hear everyones stories from such a vast range of different countries. It was such an emotional day for me.

Anyway, I wish you all, all the luck in the world! Thank you to the VJ community for being a part of our journey! I couldn't have done it without you all and I made some friends for life on this forum!

I was a citizen 4 years, 2 months from the day the fiancé petition was mailed. Looks like Pheebs was just about the same, maybe a month longer. Hopefully those fretting every single day that passes will get over it once they move. I quit checking status and timelines and just got on with life and was much happier for it. It will happen when it happens.

I have to admit when we filed the case and received NOA1 (I know that's the very starting but) I was checking stupidly everyday. Then we received NOA2 and we just seemed to stop checking, we just waited it out etc.

Now with medical done awaiting March interview appointments we're again not checking everything every day, just like you say, living. It'll ruin you if you always check and remind yourself there's something else to do.

So when you become a citizen, is there another appointment afterwards? Like in 10 years do you have to go to something else, or are you all done?

Done. I am an American. No more USCIS...EVER.

After my oath ceremony I went to Social Security and the DMV to change my status in their records to American using my naturalization certificate. Then I applied for my US passport. You have to mail off your certificate, but they send it back.

Also I registered to vote. The League of Women Voters kindly had a table set up at the oath ceremony taking registration forms. They got them sorted and sent to our respective counties of residence.

I am also still British and have a British passport.

No more USCIS, now that's the dream right there!

It's good to know you also kept your British passport too as I'll definitely be looking to have both passports in the future. As will the wife to be in the future 🙂

My 2 year GC was approved in November 2015 but I did not receive it until January 2016.

Thank you for the congratulations! Yup, I was very blessed during the K1 part of our visa journey, it was super speedy and received a lot of heat on VJ as a result, to the point where I had to take a break because I got so many unkind private messages :(

Your wife will have to be a resident of the U.K. for at least three years (assuming you are still married) before she can apply for citizenship. Unless she is eligible by descent.

Timeline in brief:

Married: September 27, 2014

I-130 filed: February 5, 2016

NOA1: February 8, 2016 Nebraska

NOA2: July 21, 2016

Interview: December 6, 2016 London

POE: December 19, 2016 Las Vegas

N-400 filed: September 30, 2019

Interview: March 22, 2021 Seattle

Oath: March 22, 2021 COVID-style same-day oath

Now a US citizen!
