Affidavit of marriage

I am in the first steps of sending in supporting documents with the I-30. Me and my husband don’t have a joint bank account or other assets together so I see that we can have two people write a affidavit. Could it be a simple typed letter or would it have to be in a affidavit format?

Affidavits carry little weight, but they are better than nothing.  They can be in the form of a typed letter (signed & notarized).  Couples living apart usually can't have joint US bank accounts or a lot of legal documents, so don't worry about that.  The best evidence you can provide is that of spending time together.  In addition, insurance beneficiary documents, etc. are good also.

My mom and brother signed affidavits and had them notarized it was a simple letter. As far as the bank accounts try to get a bank account jointly in his country but you wont be able to get a US account together.

Bank accounts are challenging when one person is out of the country.  We used my work health and life insurance as proof.  I sent copies of the Health insurance cards with my wife's and step-kids names on them.  There isn't a whole lot more we can do.  Affidavits are not considered good proof since the notary only verifies the signature, not the statement.

A CO doesn't expect a couple living in different countries to have shared bank accounts, most other assets, etc. They do understand the challenges in doing so. That is different than if both individuals were living together (either inside or outside the US).

Other marriage evidence would be the way to go. As stated, time spent together in person is best.

Yes, assuming there is enough other forms of evidence being provided.

I submitted 3 affidavits as well as my insurance card from my job ,and credit card statements that shows both of our names.I couldn't give bank statements because he's still in his country. Good luck
