If you sent it UPS to the street address they should be there today to accept the package. If not today they will get it Wednesday. A couple days delay at the front won’t really mean much at the end. You are good. Relax and it will all be good.

The lockbox is just a place where the checks are removed and the petitions are forwarded. By USPS it is just a PO Box. For UPS it is a street address but all they do is take the cash and send it on.

Thank you for the useful information. I used UPS and its status is out for delivery today. I hope there is someone there to accept the package. If not I hope UPS won’t attempt to deliver it again on Monday and Tuesday, otherwise it will sent back to me.

You can go online and tell them to deliver on Wednesday. I don’t think they will have to. I do recall others having their petitions delivered on a Saturday.

What's the reason staff is not showing up for work on Saturday. The embassy is closed. Holiday hours are being observed for Christmas on Monday and Tuesday and nothing posted on their website.

CNN posted the comments

i have no idea as i can not find it online in newsfeed

they said the islamabad embassy was doing restricted work as they were shortstaffed due to government shutdown

this could mean security which has to be on duty every day

I searched on the web sources and it seemed most of the people are with usps instead of ups or fedex. I saw some cases they were with usps priority mails so that the address is the street address. They sent on Friday and usps tried delivery on Saturday and redelivered on the next Monday.

I did call the ups customer service just now and they told me for a rescheduled delivery date, I have to pay the extra 20+ bucks. I told them it’s ridiculous. I even haven’t asked them to refund me for the delay. The overnight delivery now is over many nights.

Is there anyone can tell me if the USCIS lockbox is just a post office lockbox so that it doesn’t matter whether USCIS are having holiday off or not? And applications are just dropped off to the lockbox and they will start collecting the files after they return from Christmas holiday? If that is the case then ups can deliver my package today and I will be worry free.

For UPS, I don’t think they just “drop it off”. They will need signature as proof of delivery. That means they will wait until the office opens on Wednesday next week. They can’t deliver the package if there’s no-one there to receive it.

I sent ours with USPS due to several factors, main one being there is one less transfer, since Lockbox PO box doesn't require signatures and they can just leave it there, while the other one does, and is at different address so there seems to be high chances of things being lost. USPS was also slightly cheaper for me. I suggest you just let UPS do the delivery and hopefully they will sort it out. They should redeliver it noone is there to sign for it without any extra cost.

Are you sure ups will try on Wednesday not Monday and Tuesday? For now I just concern the returning issue since if they tried for 3 times then package will be returned to me because USCIS staff won’t do pickup at ups store.

The tracking updates on ups says “attempted”. Damn they wasted one delivery attempt. Why they deliver it on Saturday? I paid 60+ bucks for the next day air service. If they cannot delivery it on Friday I am fine with it. But now I’m afraid they will try on Monday and Tuesday then the package will be sent back to me.

I guess it's a case of damn if they do and damn if they don't. USPS Can't win.

Is USPS shutdown or are they considered fee based?

I realized he used UPS. I was just wondering if the post office would be impacted.

Called ups customer service three times a day. For the last one, I finally paid for rescheduling the 2nd attempt of delivery on Wednesday. This is the only way to stop them from trying the delivery again on Monday. I cannot reschedule a different date online at my end since I’m the sender and have no so called “infoNotice number”, which is left to the recipient if the delivery is unsuccessful. Hopefully there is people working at the address to sign for my package. Now mind rest.
