Bank statements

I am planning to have my bank statements to show my assets along with my equity available in my home. For bank statements do I have to show the account opening date ? Or just a recent statement is enough ? Also what proof can I show regarding the equity in my house ?

Either the tax assessed value or possibly Zillow estimated value compared to the mortgage value

YMMV

I went to 2 of my banks (I'm depositing payrolls into 2 different banks). Printed the page that missileman posted in this post. Bank employees at both branches wrote quick letters.

When the account was open. Current balance. Average yearly balance.

At Wells Fargo they even printed for me all statements from the last 12 months. For the other bank I've got similar letter and I printed out my statements online.

On each statement's first or second page you have amount deposited each month. I've used highlighter and calculated amount for the year. I wrote the amount on the last statement and that's it. I've done it for both accounts.

I didn't do anything to show equity in my house. Instead I went to Turbotax and printed out my W-2s from 2017 and 2016 + State and Federal I-1049 completed forms.

We've sent it to the embassy and it was accepted without any RFE. Next step is the interview December 11th  :)

I don't know how it is in India, but in US embassy in Thailand they will not schedule your interview if you don't send them all documents from Packet 3 which includes Affidavit of Support.

After we sent them the documents, 3 days later we had interview date in a letter sent via email (for December 11).
