Please are  k1 fiance/fiancee visa beneficiaries required to pay the 220$ fee for green card before travelling to the US

NO.  K1 pays $265 for the embassy interview.  The DS-160 must be filled out first but there is NO FEE to file the DS-160.

NO.

But what you will have  to pay is $1225.0 ($1140.0 is filing fee + $85.0 biometric fee) for I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence, after you get married to your US Petitioner.
