My biggest problem with the tax cuts is not that they passed the bill, but that they passed another temporary fix to a stupid system that needs a lot more than a band aid. Hopefully they use the time between now and 2025 to come up with something serious to overhaul the entire tax code.

I actually agree with you on this. When you talk about overhauling the tax code we may or may not agree on what that should mean though.

The only evidence this provides is that some people, are misinformed.

Actually this doesn't even provide that evidence. The survey wasn't meant to test voter knowledge.

You just said the same thing. It proves voters are not informed.

Fact 1. The middle class got the highest % of tax cuts.

Fact 2 Tax revenues went up after the cuts.

So again why are they bad ?

Because you get to decide what to do with more of your own money than the government does. We all know the government knows better how to spend your money than you do.

It's sad they the left wing media has advanced the lie, that it was for the rich. Simply not true. The middle class got the highest cut.

Now of course you can have a smaller percentage tax cut but if you pay way more of course its going to be a higher dollar amount.

I’m curious, Keith... do you know what the tax cuts have done for YOU in the first year?

I think I am going to  save a few percentage points on my salary this year and I'll be saving 1000 dollars from the child tax credit.

So you think that money would have been better left in the hands of the government?

No it doesn't prove anything but the voter's opinion. The survey was not meant to test voter knowledge.

I am assuming it was scientific so the rest is just you informing us of your opinion about other republican voters.

Aren't opinions based on knowledge?

Trouble is, the government has already spent the money. All tax cuts mean is that the government will have to raise taxes sometime in the future, in order to pay for them.

Awesome!  Let’s assume you dropped one tax bracket.  At 2.5%, you will bring home about $2.08 more per month for every $1,000 you earn. (Roughly $1,250 more in your pocket at the $50,000 income level).

Plus the child tax credit.

Plus you will get a $12,000 reduction in income.  At the 9% ETR, that’s another $1,080 in your pocket.

So a person earning about $50K will realize find about $3,300 more in the bank at the end of the year.  Not too shabby.

On top of that, if a person does their W4 wisely, and increases the exemptions to around 5-8, they will increase their monthly income, and reduce the interest-free loan they are (typically) giving the government every year.  If you get a tax return that is greater than about $100-500, you are doing it wrong.  Better to owe the IRS around $100-500 every tax season.

Truth lies in your statement, but there is another option... reduce the spending.  Though I don’t really see anyone in control of our government heck-bent on spending all the money.
