So do we do a sustainability report before or after the Republicans cut taxes for the uber wealthy?

and cut even more for the middle class. BTW tax revenues are at an all time high, so again what is your problem with the cuts ?

John Stoseell kind of addressed this in his book. You do have a valid somewhat of a point. We spend Billons every year subsidizing rich people to build homes in hurricane paths at the beach.  Just one of his examples.

So, do you want me to move my house off the beach?

If at first you don't succeed, then sky diving is not for you.

No not at all. Let me ask you this. Does the govt subsidize your flood insurance ?  not saying you should not take it if it is available,

Great question.  I'm sure they do.  I paid for flood insurance for my place on Big Pine Key for the last 20 years. Had 3 feet of water under the house with Irma.  Quite a mess and a fair amount of erosion under and around the house. Nothing was covered.

This year I didn't renew.  I'm self insuring.  I'm thinking of doing the same for the hurricane wind storm insurance also.

But yes, government subsidized of course.   Didn't mean to sound like I was arguing about.

No one else got a tax cut?  How do you cut taxes to the poor that don't pay taxes, or the middle class without cutting taxes to the top brackets?  We do have a progressive tax system.  As to the wealthy are you insinuating they do not deserve to keep more of what they worked hard to get?  I suppose socialism/communism would be a much better system.

Yes.. the wealthy need to pay relatively more taxes because they have enough to survive past the point of basic living. Its about spreading equity.

We need to make a point to invest in each other as a community or we all will fall from greatness.

Naw.  We went thru the eye of Irma as a strong cat 4 and did very well.  Not even enough damage to meet the deductable.

But to be honest there isn't really a beach on this island.  Just a few houses on a "beach" on the Atlantic side.  Most oof us are all on canals just a short distance to the open water.

I never said that they didnt pay taxes.. the point is they should. And they do pay relatively less than middle class and the working poor.

The number you are quoting are just federal income.

Republicans have literally been waging war on the poor for the longest. So no politician is innocent of this "class warfare" idea.

Kind of a weird way to define tax fairness if that is what you are getting at.  I realize that the "tax the rich" rhetoric plays well, or used to, but in my opinion everyone is entitled to have more of the money they earned, rich, poor or otherwise.

Can you explain this, please?  I am not sure where you are trying to lead us here...

Is it odd.. or is it the reason why we have a progressive federal tax in the first place?
