Hello all!

We are waiting for my husband's interview date at this time and are looking to prep for the final step of this process! What kinds of questions can he expect? Do we need to provide proof of our relationship even though our I-130 was approved? Will they be examining our relationship? What kinds of things should he expect and prep for during the interview? Anyone who has gone through this process specifically in Guatemala able to offer any insight?

Thanks!

Did you submit proof of a bona fide relationship with your package?  We did and were only asked when we met online (didn’t even ask what site) , when we met in person and why we got married in Iceland (seemed to be more out of curiosity).  They asked for pictures.  They also asked if my husband had ever been to the US.  In our case it was no.

If you didn’t send anything ahead, bring pictures (add a caption of date and place), any travel documents showing you were together, samples of chats.

Without knowing much about you or your case, if it’s generally straightforward and not very probing.

Have your documents in line (birth, Marriage, police clearance certificates).   The biggest hang up here is acceptable divorce decrees, if applicable.

Here’s a link to the consulate reviews in Guatemala which are a treasure trove:  http://www.visajourney.com/reviews/index.php?cnty=Guatemala&page=1&dfilter=5&topic=

Hey, my husband and I recently came home from our interview in Guatemala. We were asked for the RENAP birth certificate, police and court records as well as a photo and the original marriage certificate, everything else they said they had already. We were also asked to show photos of the wedding day and although we only got married at the city hall we had a couple of pictures which satisfied the interviewer. Questions we were asked were: How long have you been married? How many people attended the wedding? How did you meet? What do you do for work? My husband who accompanied me was asked what he did for work. After that we were approved. Honestly they were really nice and as long as you go prepared and answer honestly you'll be good. Good luck! Hope this helps!
